2. Course outline

– Use the following table to organize the topics to be taught in the course. If you need to include topics that cover other requirements you have to teach (for
example, national syllabus), make sure that you do so in an integrated way, but also differentiate them using italics. Add as many rows as you need.

– This document should not be a day-by-day accounting of each unit. It is an outline showing how you will distribute the topics and the time to ensure that
students are prepared to comply with the requirements of the subject.

– This outline should show how you will develop the teaching of the subject. It should reflect the individual nature of the course in your classroom and should
not just be a “copy and paste” from the subject guide.

– If you will teach both higher and standard level, make sure that this is clearly identified in your outline.

3. IB Internal and external assessment requirements to be completed during the course

Briefly explain how and when you will work on them. Include the date when you will first introduce the internal and external assessment requirements, when they
will be due and how students will be prepared to complete them.

Students will be explained all the assessments, internal and external, at the beginning of the DP as they need to know what the expectations from
them are and towards what they need to work in the next two years.

Internal Assessments : The preparation will begin from Day 1 as students will be encouraged to speak in English during class.

For Year 1, Term 2 there will be picture description.

For Year 2, Term 1 there will be picture description and follow-up questions.
For Year 2, Term 2 we start practising the exam format since the beginning of the term to have the final oral in February.

External Assessments :
4. Links to TOK

You are expected to explore links between the topics of your subject and TOK. As an example of how you would do this, choose one topic from your course
outline that would allow your students to make links with TOK. Describe how you would plan the lessoncours.

Topic Link with TOK (including description of lesson plan)

Identities : Healthy mind The Area of Knowledge that will be linked to this topic is ETHICS. Students will discuss the following.
and healthy body 1. How is the well-being of a person represented in the media?
2. Do our surroundings determine our eating habits, likes and dislikes?
3. Does everyone have a safe space to discuss their mental health issues?

Step1: Students will first be asked these questions and following a few minutes of thinking, they will give their respective answers.
Step 2: They will now be asked to think of instances in their own lives when they went against their better judgement and engaged in
specific activities to fit in or to rebel. They will reflect on their personal experiences and weigh the pros and cons of believing the images
put out in the media, changing habits under different circumstances, and their secrecy and sense of embarrassment vis-à-vis mental
health.
Step 3: They now of think of answers to the above questions again and reflect on whether they changed or not. If yes, why? If not, Why?

5. Approaches to learning

Every IB course should contribute to the development of students’ approaches to learning skills. As an example of how you would do this, choose one topic from
your outline that would allow your students to specifically develop one or more of these skill categories (thinking, communication, social, self-management or
research).

Topic Contribution to the development of students’ approaches to learning skills (including one or more skill category)

daily adventure of things to do., they will think about how the interaction with visitors from other parts of the world can contribute to
understanding another culture better. In which way can it lead to people becoming more tolerant and empathetic? How does it help to
relate to one another better?
Thinking
They will think about an attitude or a behaviour that can help interact with people from other countries when they visit. Will learning a
few words of their language before travelling to their country help them to receive you in a different manner? Is it important to find out
what can be done and what can't in the country you're going to?

6. International mindedness

Every IB course should contribute to the development of international-mindedness in students. As an example of how you would do this, choose one topic from
your outline that would allow your students to analyse it from different cultural perspectives. Briefly explain the reason for your choice and what resources you will
use to achieve this goal.

Topic Contribution to the development of international mindedness (including resources you will use)

for others to understand.

settings of the destination and make appropriate changes and learn to be more accommodating.

8. Resources

Are instructional materials and other resources available in sufficient quality, quantity and variety to give effective support to the aims and methods of the
courses? Briefly describe what plans are in place if changes are needed.

The school library has sufficient copies of the Oxford textbook and a subscription to Inthinking, which gives us enough resources to support the aims
and methods of the course.

We also have copies of the Hodder English B text book for a more variety of exercises, as it has a variety audios with accents from various English
speaking countries.
