RENEWABLE ENERGY THE ONLY FORWARD

To begin, Renewable energy is not very harmful to the environment and human.
This is why is very important for the world to focus on renewable energy which is
generated from natural energy sources such as the sun, water, wind, plant and
earth. The world now is witnessing a rapid decrease in coal, oil and gas reserved
due to increase in population which can be explain by the constant increase in
price of fuel over the years. The discoveries of renewable form of energy has
proved that the world is looking for more clean and better energy than the fossil
fuels. Other sources of renewable energy such as green energy has fewer side
effects than the fossil fuel because they don’t emit green house gases which is
dangerous to the environment.
In my community where I am based which is the economic capital of Cameroon
with many economical activities in the city of Douala like the use of fossil fuel, oil
and gas which amount to 89% of the energy used by companies and
transportation sector, have contributed to 70% of air pollution in the city.
More so, the increasing population influx of the cities of Douala has caused the
rapid increase in household and commercial waste in the city which is detrimental
to the health of the inhabitant of the cities.
My vision for my community is to create a sustainable environment for the
inhabitant through renewable energy, such as creating awareness about
importance renewable energy, sensitization to the youth like myself because they
are the leader of tomorrow, social media awareness, out door message poster
and conferences, meeting and workshop to build the mentality and morals of the
people of my community. My project will be to help the villages without
electricity to use our natural resources such as, wind, solar and biomass energy
given to us by nature. This can be done by setting up solar farms, wind turbine
and biogas. The population in the rural areas live below standard of living and
given them such an opportunity to carryout renewable energy to boast their
agricultural, educational and communal activity will be of great improvement
standard of living in the rural community.
Statistically, the population of the rural areas are suffering from regional
imbalance as they don’t have access to good portable drinking water, school and
hospital because the government don’t see them as part of their project since
they are the minority.

Our planet is at risk and renewable energy is the only forward for a better world
and tomorrow.
I have always appreciated the works and activities puts in place by IRENA and is
my long wishing dream to be part of the movement. My community and villages
need to benefit from the awareness of renewable energy and this will create jobs
and income to the people.
