It fascinates me how Earth is the only planet with the right conditions that make it habitable by living

things. Yet, many people, organizations, and companies do not give importance to protecting our
environment and preserving its natural resources. For this reason, environmental issues have been
common in our generation such as the current wildfire in California, climate change, water, air, soil,
noise, radioactive, light and thermal pollution, soil degradation, global warming, overpopulation,
natural resource depletion, huge production of wastes and many more problems. The best solution to
these problems is taking actions now to counteract our actions that arise these undesirable effects in the
first place because we never know what kind of environment the future generations will live in. Since
human activities are the roots of this problem, I am one of them who is accountable and responsible to
take rigorous action that will enhance the condition of the environment. The first thing I can do is to
raise awareness in my local community and within my families about these issues since it is apparent
that I am not capable todo it by myself and I need help from a large number of people for them to be
part of the change. When my neighbors burn their garbages together with the leaves, these create
smoke and add unwanted carbons to the atmosphere that contributes to air pollution. In this situation, it
gives me the opportunity to teach them how to properly dispose of their waste and enlighten them
about the consequences of simply burning materials. Another contribution I give is being a smart buyer.
I promote eco- friendly companies and avoid large environmentally unfriendly corporations. Many
corporates have joined the race to spare the planet. I can just start by purchasing reused items for my
home, or school. The more prominent the interest for used items, the more these organizations will be
urged to add reused materials to their items. I want to live by example and ensure the products I will
buy are produced with both ethics and the environment in mind. Furthermore, in our house, I turn off
appliances not in use, watch television only one hour a day, and turn on my power-saving in my mobile
phone to save current. To save water: I use glass when brushing my teeth, use a watering can to water
plants, take shorter showers, and turn the tap off when brushing teeth or soaping hands.

When it comes to my community, I hate to see leaking water that is why I immediately report it to our
barangay officers. Also, I apply and promote the concept of 3r’s (recycle, reduce, and reuse) so that I
can prevent the highly excessive use of resources. I highly discourage people from throwing garbage in
streets especially in the bodies of water that contaminates the species living in the sea or river. In going
to places near our village, I use a bicycle instead of a motorcycle that will consume gasoline. As it turns
out, one of the easiest ways I can effectively reduce my carbon footprint is installing solar lights in my
future house. It relies on something called the photovoltaic effect to take solar energy produced by the
sun, store that energy into rechargeable cell battery, and power the solar lighting solution installed on
my property. It may be costly, but, it’s worth spending on the environment. Moreover, I am planning on
raising a maximum of two children since more human population means more resources are being
consumed. We should all be environmentalists in nature and encourage everyone to love our
environment. Through this, we will create solidarity and be united to do the solutions available for
environmental issues. If everyone cooperates even with small acts, we will achieve a healthy
environment we want to live in and will be witnessed by the succeeding generations. And for this to
become possible, we need to start implementing actions now and have a better world later.
