1. OBJECTIVE
The objective of this document is to ensure safe & quality execution
of pipe installation work complying with Authority requirements.

2. SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope of works for the installation / Modification of Sprinkler


system works.

2.1 RESPONSIBILITIES

 Project Manager – Ensures that works conducted by trained


and competent personnel as per requirement.

 Site Supervisor – Ensure works conducted as per Method


Statements approved by Authority.

 Safety Supervisor – Ensures all safe work practice are in


compliance with legislation and Authority requirements.

 Workers – Ensure works carried out as approved Method


Statement and Procedures. To report any unsafe work
conditions.

 Hand Drill c/w vacuum (Battery Operated or 110Vac)


 Pipe electrical cutter
 Pipe stands/Supporting brackets
 Ladder

4. METHOD
4.1 Preparation Phase

4.1.1 Construction Drawings


 Study and understand concept of Construction Drawings

4.1.2 Tools and Equipment


 Ensure tools and equipment is in good working condition.
 All electrical tools shall be inspected by LEW and adhere to
appropriate colour coding for the month (as enforced by respective
Civil Contractors).

4.2 Installation Phase


 Check that the site is safe and ready for installation. Comply with
relevant Civil Contracts Permit-to Work system. Conduct Hazard
Analysis.
 Check that the location for pipe routing/pump and water tank replace
location
 As per approved Construction drawings against site condition are
feasible.
 Mobile scaffolds/ladder is used for access and installation at height.
 Install pipe/ pump/ water tank as per approved routing and check with
other interfacing contractors and Authority when conditions require
deviation from CSD.

4.2.1 Piping work
a) From the Construction Drawings, the pipes routings shall be
marked on site, taking reference from the other services or
other suitable references.
b) Pipes should be use GI class B.
c) Correct Sizes and Lengths of pipe shall be used
accordingly.
d) GI pipe shall be threaded by using the Mechanical threading
machine.
e) GI pipe shall be tightened using stilton wrench to ensure
tightness.
4.2.2 Sprinkler Head installation
a) The location of sprinklers on the ceiling shall be as per the
approved reflected ceiling plan.
b) The valve must be properly identified using the valve tags
as per specification.
c) Drain off the water completely.
d) Use of buckets/pails if there any balance water.
e) Tighten the sprinkler heads properly.
f) Do the touch up/painting works after installation.

4.2.3 Sprinkler pipe pressure test


a) Pipe pressure test will be carried out after completion of all
the pipes & sprinkler head installation.
b) Pressure will be carried out water pressure medium by
water pressure test pump.
d) Ensure all the hole of sprinkler pipes are plugged off.
e) Start of pumping water and deploy the manpower to the
various location to ensure immediate action will be taken on
the small amount of water leaking.
f) Pressurize the pipe to the required level. Final ensure there
is no leaking after pressurization.
g) Monitor the pressure for 24 hours.

5. EHS

5.1 General

 Supervisor shall brief his men on activity for the day and potential
hazards before commencement of work. Toolbox meeting to be
carried out every morning before work.
 PPE shall be worn at all times.
 Restrict unauthorised personnel access to work site to minimise
unnecessary incidents.
 Any personnel who do not feel well during the course of work shall be
relieved.
 Housekeeping shall be performed parallel to work progression.
Rubbish / waste material to be disposed off in proper manner daily.
 All faulty electrical equipment shall not be used.
