Module 4: ARTICLE 3
Activity 2- Part 1
1. What is the Article 3 of the Apostles’ Creed?
Article 3 of the Apostle’s Creed is that he was conceived by the power of the holy spirit, born of
the virgin Mary.
The four dogmas are Mary, Mother of God; the Perpetual Virgin; the Immaculate Conception,
and the Assumption.
4. Where in the scripture can we find that Mary is the Mother of God?
In the scripture, we can find Mary is the Mother of God in the biblical passages The
Annunciation where Archangel Gabriel visits Mary (Luke 1: 31-32). Secondly, The Visitation
where Mary visited Elizabeth (Luke 1:43). By Elizabeth seen the context indicated the divinity
of Jesus. We can be affirmed that Mother of the Lord means Mother of God.
Part 2
6. What are the arguments that have been universally accepted by the Church in relation to
Mary’s Perpetual Virginity?
Firstly, in the bible written that Mary had other children from Joseph. The fact that Jesus was
Mary’s first-born son and Joseph had no marital relations with her until she gave birth to a son
Jesus. Secondly, not proper that the Virgin Mother of the Messiah should have other children’s
relationship with Mary.
It’s stated that the Virgin Mary was conceived without the Original Sin, and remained sinless for
her whole life.
Meaning a sign of reverence for and devotion to the Virgin. By the power of God Mary was
preserved from sin so that she could carry Jesus inside of her.

1. For you, what does it mean to be a mother? What is the essence of being a Mother?
Other people might say that mother who womb you and carry you in 9 months. The sacrifice they do to
us, especially me. I am grateful and honored that I see the world because of my mom. Personally, I
haven’t grown up with my mom’s care though my mom got another family I am lucky because I have my
auntie to take good care of me and my eldest brother too. As a couple of years goes by a lot of
realization I understand because sometimes we can’t force the thing that we want to become united.
The acceptance of my mom’s betrayal to my father was the painful part but day by day I realize that
maybe they are not destined to each other. My mother left us but a lot of women really care for us. Like
Mary obeying the father and Jesus her son. I am here today to continue to pursue my mother’s dream
because even I have a doubt about my mother but still she is my mother and my one and only “mama”.
2. What is your message for your own Mother? (Write a letter to your own Mother- you may use your
own vernacular language)
3. Who was/were with you at the darkest hour (darkness of depression, sickness, death of a loved one,
or a bitter family dispute, or the, or struggle with sin) of your life? Who stayed with you during those big
trials in your life? How were you able to handle them?
