Sa panimalay ni Meme
adunay nagpuyo nga usa ka
tuko ug tiki. Pirming sungog-
sungugon sa tuko ang tiki
tungod sa kagamayon niini.
3
Usa ka adlaw niana. “hoy tiki!
(nagkatawa ang tuko samtang nag-istorya
kini) kagagmay gayud sa imong mga bitiis
maong dili gayud ka kahadlokan sa mga
mananap diri sa kisame.” Mitubag ang
tiki, “pasagdi lang kusog man pod ko
modagan.

4
5
Maoba? Suwayan nako bi ug
kusog ba ka modagan, hmmpp!
(gipatungan ug gitumban sa tuko
ang tiki dayon lakaw nga nagngisi
dang bugal-bugal).

6
7
“Sagdi lang, moabot ra ang panahon
nga makaamgo ka sa imong mga
pagbugal-bugal kanako.” (ang sulti
sa tiki sa iyang kaugalingon samtang
naghilak sa kasakit)

8
9
Pagkasunod adlaw, adunay
mga bata nga nanumbay kay
mamitik ug mga tiki o tuko
nga ilang makit-an.

10
11
Nakakita dayon ang tiki maong
nagpahipi kini sa suok sa
kisame para dili siya hingkit-an.
Pero ang tuko wala makabantay.

12
13 Iya na hinoon giingnan ang
tiki.“Tawon pod ang gamay nga tiki
mitago kay nahadlok, dili manundog
naho nga dako, kusgan, isog ug dako
ang tingog maong ang tanan
mahadlok nahu” (nagkatawa nga
bugal bugal). Wala nanumbaling ang
tiki.
15

Nakurat ang tuko kay naay

kalit nga miigo sa iyang ulo ug
tungod adto nalipong kini ug
nahagbong.
17
Giduwa-duwaan kini sa
mga bata. Samtang si Tiki
igo nalang sa pagtan-aw
kang Tuko.

18
19
Ug diha nakaamgo ang tuko nga dili
basehan ang kadak-on, ug dili angay
yanu-yanuhon ang mga gagmay kay
adunay nagkalain-laing silbi ug
kinaiya ang usag-usa gagmay man
kini o dagko.

kisame.

THE GECKO AND THE LIZARD
1. In Meme’s house there lived the Gecko and the Lizard. The Gecko often teased the Lizard
because of her small size.
2. One day the Gecko laughed as he spoke to the Lizard, “Oh.., your legs are tiny that’s why other
animals are not afraid of you.” The Lizard answered, “Well, I can run fast.”
3. “Is that so? Hmmpp! I’ll try if you can really run fast”, as the Gecko stepped on the Lizard’s
body and walked away laughing sarcastically.
4. “Time will come that you can realize what you’ve done to me,” the Lizard said to herself while
crying in pain.
5. The following day, the children from neighboring houses came to find a Gecko and a Lizard to
be hunted with their slingshot.
6. When the Lizard saw the children coming, she hid immediately away from their sight. But the
Gecko did not see them.
7. Instead he spoke to the Lizard, “What a pity of you! You are hiding. I know you’re awful. You are
not like me. I am big, strong, and brave and have a powerful voice. Everybody is afraid of me,” as
he uttered to himself ridiculously. But the Lizard did not mind his insult.
8. Suddenly, the Gecko was shocked when something hard hit his head. Then he fell down. As he lay
on the ground.
9. Children played the Gecko. While the Lizard kept watching the Gecko on the children’s hand.
10. Then the Gecko realized that he was wrong to look down a small being like the Lizard. He
thought anything small is not meant to be belittled, everything has a purpose, no matter what the
size is. After a while the Gecko lost his consciousness.
11. The Lizard saw the ill fate that happened to the Gecko. She felt pity to him, but she only
looked at him on the ground. While hiding above in a secret place of the ceiling.
