POOL TECHNICAL MANUAL

INTRODUCTION
Pools need care and maintenance to be kept in perfect conditions of transparency and disinfection.

Pool users (bathers) and climatic factors (rain, sun and wind) are introducing microorganisms and contaminants into the
pool water that can harm users and cause deterioration both inside the pool and in its installation. With the help of the
filtering system much of the dirt previously introduced is eliminated, but the development of bacteria, algae and viruses
can only be eliminated with the correct disinfection.

TECHNICAL SITE IN THE MACHINE ROOM

The dirt coming from the atmosphere and from the bathers is the cause of the turbid water that becomes food for the
bacteria and algae; therefore, será́ necessary to eliminate it with the help of the filtering equipment.

Filtration is a physical treatment to remove dirt from the pool water, keeping the water transparent and crystal clear. It is
important that the filter works in good conditions and that the entire volume of water in the pool is filtered at least once a
day.

This treatment consists of passing all the water in the pool through a filter, with a filtering medium that can be silica sand
or glass, which retains the suspended particles. The basic diagram of a swimming pool's FILTERING SYSTEM is
described by "Figure 1 - General diagram of the swimming pool".

Once the filtration cycle has started and after some time it will be necessary to wash the filter, as the filtering medium will
become clogged with impurities preventing the passage of water and will end up damaging the system.

For this it is necessary to make a filter flushing manoeuvre, which consists of the following steps according to "Figure 2 -
Functions of the Selector Valve":

Important Note: Whenever it is necessary to change a function using the 3-VALVE SELECTOR, the motor must always
be OFF.

Figure 1 - General diagram of the pool

1 - CIRCULATION (WHIRLPOOL)
To dissolve water treatment tablets, algicides, etc. In this position the water is not filtered and circulates directly to th e
injector nozzles.

2 - FILTRATION (FILTER)
To normally filter the pool water. In this position, the water enters through the upper nozzle of the filter being filtered by
the sand and exits through the lower nozzle to the injection nozzles.

3 - WASHING (BACKWASH)
In case of sand saturation, the washing time is approximately 5 minutes. In this position the water enters through the lower
nozzle of the filter, is washed and exits through the upper nozzle to the sewer.

4 - RINSE
After washing, the rinse time is approximately 30 seconds. In this position the water enters through the upper nozzle, the
rinsing is done and leaves through the lower nozzle directly to the sewer.

5 - DRAIN
To empty the pool. In this position the water is not filtered and circulates directly to the sewer.

6 - CLOSED
For any filter maintenance. In this position the pump should never operate.

WATER TREATMENT CHEMICALS

The products necessary for the water treatment of your pool are:
- pH plus or pH minus
- Disinfectant that can be chlorine, bromine, multi-action tablets, oxygen.
- Complements: Flocculant, Anti-algae (algicides)
pH
The pH is a very important factor, since it influences the disinfectant action, the comfort of the bathers and the state of
installation of your pool.

The pH indicates the degree of acidity or alkalinity of the water. In the pool you should keep it adjusted between the values
of 7.2 to 7.6 ppm.

This pH range, besides keeping the installation in optimal conditions, is ideal for the skin and eyes of bathers.

www.iot-pool.com .ptegwgwggfegg
info@iot-pool.com Pag. 2
To keep it between these 2 values, the pool water must be analysed with the chlorine and pH analysis kit. If, in the result,
the pH value is less than 7.6, add pH minus to the water; if it is less than 7.2, add pH plus to the water, in the amounts
recommended on the package.

It is not advisable to have the pH maladjusted, because:

For a pH above 7.6: For a pH below 7.2:

• The disinfectant loses its effect; • Skin, eye and nose irritations of bathers;
• Higher chlorine consumption; • Corrosion of the metal parts of the installation.
• Cloudy water;

• Formation of inlays;

• Causes changes in the behaviour of the filtering

system.

From the above it can be concluded that the degree of effectiveness of the treatment and the chemical quality of
the water depends to a large extent on the pH.

Note: The products must be used in accordance with the instructions for use of their packaging and manufacturer.

Disinfectant (e.g. chlorine)

Even though water is clear and transparent, it can contain bacteria and viruses that transmit diseases and infections. It
must therefore be disinfected in order to eliminate all micro-organisms present. By adding disinfectant to the pool water,
part of it is consumed immediately by destroying the contaminants (chloramines) found in the water; the rest remains in
the water as residual chlorine, prepared to act against all the new contaminants that will arise in the pool through the wind,
bathers or by any other means.

To ensure good disinfection of the pool water, chlorine should be between 1.0 and 1.5 ppm. Chlorine consumption varies
with temperature, solar incidence, number of swimmers, pollution, etc. For these reasons it is necessary to carry out a
regular analysis by means of the Chlorine and pH Analysis Kit.

Note: The products must be used in accordance with the instructions for use of their packaging and manufactur er.

Anti-algae (algicide)
Algae are single-celled plant organisms that can develop and multiply rapidly in water, especially when the water
temperature is warm. Algae reproduce in swimming pool water through wind, rain and other atmospheric agents. To
prevent them from developing, in addition to the disinfectant (chlorine, bromine or oxygen), the Anti-algae product should
be used as a complement.

Flocculant
Flocculant is a chemical product intended to complement the chemical treatment of water in case of need or prevention
and allows the grouping of all the microparticles of dirt that make the water cloudy and colored (caused by the existence
of iron, manganese and/or copper salts, depending on the water used to fill the pool).

After using this product you should wait 10 hours for flocculation to occur, proceed to the bottom aspiration (Sewage
aspiration).

Tip: Liquid chemicals (Flocculant and Anti-algae) must always be diluted in water and added inside the pool, followed by
a period of 1 hour of recirculation. The solid chemicals (Chlorine and pH's) must ALWAYS be placed in the Skimmer
basket with the pump in operation and the filter function valve ALWAYS to be filtered

PRECAUTIONS ON THE USE OF CHEMICALS

• When using the chemicals, carefully read the label and follow the instructions.
• Do not mix the products with each other, add one product at a time to the pool water to avoid possible reactions
between them.
• Keep the packages closed, in a dry place, protected from heat and out of the reach of children..
• In case of contact with the eyes wash them immediately with plenty of water (do not rub) and seek medical advice,
taking the product label if possible.
• Avoid contact of swimming pool products with other types of chemicals.

ALTERNATIVE METHODS FOR TREATMENT
ACTIVATED OXYGEN
A chemical product with a non-oxidising base, suitable for heated swimming pools and for water treatment in case of
people allergic to chlorine. Very used in indoor swimming pools. Highly volatile product;

IONIZATION
Mechanism based on the emission of copper ions for the purification of swimming pool water;

ELECTROLYSIS OF SALT (SALT WATER)

Disinfection mechanism through the production of natural chlorine based on salt (sodium). Widely used in outdoor
swimming pools.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF THE CHLORINE AND pH ANALYSIS KIT

CHLORINE TEST (standard test)
1. Fill the left-hand container with pool water, up to the 10ml mark.
2. Add 5 drops of Solution 1 (OTO). Close container and shake.
3. Compare the colour obtained with the colour scale of the container. The colour obtained is equivalent to the PPM of
Total Residual Chlorine of your pool..

Note: If the result is less than 1.0 ppm, chlorine powder should be applied to raise the residual chlorine. In case of obtaining
an over chlorination (above 10ppm), the filtering system must be left in operation MANUAL in order to eliminate the excess
residual chlorine or use a CHLORINE STABILIZER.

pH
1. Fill the container on the right with pool water, up to the 10ml sign.
2. Add 5 drops of Solution 2 (PHENOL). Close container and shake.
3. Compare the colour obtained with the colour scale of the container.

Note: The ideal pH level is between 7.2 and 7.6 ppm.

PRECAUTIONS
• Keep the Kit in a dry and cool place, protected from sunlight and out of reach of children.
• Renew the reagents every bathing season.
• Clean containers thoroughly before and after each use.
• Remove the sample from the water at the deepest part of the pool and at a depth of between 30 and 70cm.

TREATMENT MANUAL
Initial treatment / Water treatment / Very dirty, green, turbid water / Flocculation

If necessary, clean the pool structure with Descaling agent (last resort) with the empty pool. Apply the product to the walls
and bottom of the pool at times when the sun does not shine on the spot, keeping the walls and bottom moist; allow the
product to act for approximately 1 hour and then wash the pool with plenty of water.

1. Fill the pool a lot, wash the side walls and bottom well with the brush;
2. Tool the engine and leave it switched on with the FILTER Selector Valve;
3. Perform a shock chlorination with chlorine powder. If the pool takes more than a day to fill, it is advisable to place a
dose of the treatment in a container (e.g. a bucket) and place it inside the pool in order to avoid the formation of
algae during filling;
4. After 4 hours, analyse the pH and if necessary adjust it between 7.2 and 7.6 ppm;
5. After 2 hours, dissolve in a container with 10ml/m3 of Flocculant. Pour this solution around the pool so that it can act
on the sides;
6. Make a recirculation of this product in the pool as follows:

• Turn off the motor

• Position the filter valve in the RECIRCULAR
position;
• Open SKIMMER, FUND SCREEN and
RETURN valves;
• Close the ASPIRER valve;
• Start the engine in the Manual by letting it
run for 1 hour;

7. Turn off the engine and wait 10 hours for the dirt to settle to the bottom of the pool;

www.iot-pool.com .ptegwgwggfegg
info@iot-pool.com Pag. 4
8. Suction the fund according to the following instructions;
9. After aspiration, switch off the motor, dismantle the aspiration kit, position the filter valve on FILTER and:
• Opening taps of SKIMMER, FUND RATE and RETURN;
• Turning off the ASPIRER tap;
• Start the engine in AUTOMATIC;
10. Water analysis.
11. Through the result of the analysis kit, adjust the
pH of the water between 7.2 and 7.6 ppm, wait
2hr, add the chlorine in tablets (1 tablet for every
15m3) and finally put the Antialgae (Algaecide);
once a week, it is necessary to do the
maintenance treatment adding 10ml for every
40m3 of water.

SUCTION PROCESS WITHOUT FILTERING / EMPTYING

IMPORTANT:
This vacuuming process should only be used when there is a lot of dirt deposited at the bottom of the pool and whenever the
product Flocculant is applied to the pool. This process sucks up water and dirt from the pool . Everything that is sucked out goes
directly to the sewer. Always keep the water level in the middle of the Skimmer.

Your swimming pool's vacuming system consists of the following elements

• Blue self-fluttering hose;

• Manual Cleaner;
• Telescopic stick.

1. Install the suction kit outside the pool (attach the hose to the cleaner and the telescopic cable to the previously
obtained set).
2. Put the hose inside the pool:
• Put the suction kit inside the pool in the VERTICAL position next to the suction socket;
• Slowly insert the hose into the pool, also in an upright position, fitting it, after it has filled, into the suction outlet;
3. In the engine room (with the engine switched off) make the following changes:
• Opening the ASPIRATOR tap;
• Turning off SKIMMER, FUND RATE and
RETURN;
• Position the function valve of the filter in the
SVAZIARY position;
• Start the motor on the MANUAL;
• Vacuum the dirt that has been deposited at
the bottom of the pool in slow movements
back and forth so as not to lift the dirt.

Important Note:
Always keep the water level in the middle of the Skimmer; whenever water is added to the pool it is very important to analyze the
chlorine level (0.6 and 1.5 PPM) and pH (7.2 and 7.6 PPM) and, if necessary, adjust it. Do not forget to clean the pump prefilter
and the check valve.

Always wash the filter when the pressure gauge (located on the filter) is in yellow, so that the entire filtering
system works properly!

CONTINUOUS MAINTENANCE
Clean Water / No Flocculant Application / Low Dirt Bottom

AUTOMATIC CIRCULATION

To make your machine room work automatically:

1. Positioning the valve on FILTER;

2. Opening SKIMMER, FUND RATE and RETURN taps;
3. Starting the motor on AUTOMATIC.

www.iot-pool.com .ptegwgwggfegg
info@iot-pool.com Pag. 5
For the correct filtration of your pool water, the filtration system must work proportionally with the water temperature, the
rule is to apply the hours of filtration of the pool the temperature of the water to divide by two (example: Water
temperature=28ºC, therefore 28/2=14, as such the pool must work 14 hours).

For this to happen automatically, simply set the desired operating time on the clock in the switchboard.

We advise that the choice of operating hours should

not coincide with the working hours of other electrical
appliances in order to avoid a power overload and the
tripping of the circuit-breaker.

WEEKLY MAINTENANCE

• Clean the skimmer baskets and the pump

prefilter, brush the pool walls and vacuum
conveniently.
• Making a WASHING and RETROLLING of filter sand;
• Clean the check valve by unscrewing it from the main pipe;
• Replace the chlorine tablets in the Skimmer and add the Anti-algae doses, or if you prefer, replace them with Triple
Action.
• Add the maintenance doses of the pH controllers.

CLEANING THE SKIMMER BASKET

In the Skimmer there is a basket which, through the circulation of the pool, collects the dirt from the water surface and
where the pool treatment products which are solid are applied.

1. Remove the cover;

2. Cleaning the Skimmer basket;
3. Close the lid carefully.

SUCTION PROCESS WITH FILTERING

With the continuous work of the filtering system and the existence of the correct quantities of chemical products in your
pool water, dirt deposits may occur at the bottom of the pool. To eliminate them, proceed as indicated:

1. Assemble the suction kit:

• Outside the pool, attach the hose to the cleaner and the telescopic cable to the previously obtained set;
• Tooling the hose inside the pool:
o Put the suction kit inside the pool in the VERTICAL position next to the suction outlet;
o Slowly insert the hose into the pool, also in an upright position, fitting it, after it has filled, into the suction
outlet;
2. In the engine room (with the engine switched off), make the following changes:
• Opening the ASPIRATOR and RETURN
taps;
• Turning off the SKIMMER and FUND
SCREENS;
• Position the filter function valve in the
FILTER position;
• Start the engine on the MANUAL.
3. Suction in slow movements.

info@iot-pool.com Pag. 6
CLEANING THE FILTER SAND

Each time you vacuum your pool in the FILTER position it is necessary to clean the sand load from the filter.

After vacuuming the pool, go to the engine room and:

• Turn off the motor;

• Opening SKIMMER, FUND RATE and
RETURN taps;
• Turning off the ASPIRER tap;
• Position the function valve of the filter in the
WASHING position.

1. Switch on the engine at the MANU and leave to

work for approximately 2 minutes, control the
purification of the water through the glass;
2. Turn off the motor;
3. Position the valve in the RETROLLAY position and start the engine about 1 minute.

CLEANING THE PUMP PREFILTER

Whenever dirt is deposited in the prefilter basket, it must be cleaned. It is advisable to open the
prefilter every week in order to prevent pressure from "sticking" the lid to the engine.

We also recommend that, when closing the prefilter, you use Vaseline to facilitate the next openings.

• Turn off the engine;

• Place the function valve in the RECIRCULAR position;
• Close the inlet taps on the SKIMMER, FUND SCREEN and ASPIRATOR;
• Leave the RETURN tap open;
• Open the prefilter cap with the special key, unscrewing the cap nut;
• Remove the basket and clean it with running water;
• Replace the basket;
• Clean the RETENTION valve;
• "TOOLING" THE ENGINE with a container of water:
1. Fill the prefilter tank;
2. Close the transparent cover;
3. Open the first tap for the engine room (FUND RATE);
4. Start the engine on the MANUAL and wait a few seconds;
5. Switch off the engine, repeat the operation 4 or 5 times until you notice that all the air in the pipe of the tap that
you opened has disappeared.

Repeat the same process for the remaining taps (SKIMMER and ASPIRATION) individually. After this process, return the
remaining taps to the automatic circulation position.

CLEANING THE CHECK VALVE

The check valve is a part in the middle of the pipe between the water inlet valves and the engine. It is advisable to clean
this part to avoid the accumulation of dirt that could impair the normal operation of the filter system.

• Turn off the motor;

• Close all valves in the engine room;
• Unscrewing the RETENTION valve connections;
• Remove the valve and clean it;
• Watch out with the rubber "o-rings" of the valve:
don't lose them!!!
• Mount the RETENTION Valve in the same place.

Important Note:
When mounting the check valve pay attention to the direction indicator printed on the valve. It indicates the position of the water
passage. If the valve is placed upside down, it will block the water flow, preventing the engine from "boiling".

info@iot-pool.com Pag. 7
HOW TO SET THE CLOCK;

1. Opening the watch cover;

2. Set the switch to position;
3. Turn the clock to the time you want;
4. With a pointed object, push the small blue switches to the left.
5. The red switches indicate at what time the pump will start. 6oTo set the watch to the correct time;
6. Turning the watch to the correct time;
7. Closing the watch cover;

Several schedules can be programmed within 24 hours. Between the red lines, we can control the exact time.
With the lack of light, the watch is deprogrammed. (There may be variations in programming depending on the
model and manufacturer of the watch)

Very Important:
Do not leave the floodlights on for more than 4 consecutive hours, as this protects your electrical panel from possible overheating.

POOL MAINTENANCE IN WINTER

When the bathing season is over and the pool water temperature is below 15ºC, the "INVERNATION" of the pool can
take place, thus preventing the water from degrading during the winter. To do so, you must perform the following
operations:

1. Turn off the motor;

2. Clean the pool well, brushing the walls and vacuuming the bottom;
3. Make a shock chlorination by adding chlorine powder (trichlorine) in the amount of 10gr/m3 of pool water;
4. Analyze the pH of the water and make the necessary adjustments for pH between 7.2 and 7.6 ppm;
5. Put the filtering system into continuous operation, in the MANUAL position, for 24 hours;
6. The next day, put the Invernator in the water (0,5lt/10m3 of water) directly on the pool;
7. Recirculate for 4 hours in order to obtain a perfect distribution of the product:
• Turn off the motor;
• Open the taps of SKIMMER, FUND RATE and
RETURN;
• Bring the function valve to the RECIRCULAR
position;
• Start the engine in MANUAL.

8. The next day, clean the filter;

9. Run the engine through the AUTOMATIC circulation about 2 hours/day;
10. To avoid dirt, it is recommended to cover the pool with a surface cover (winter cover);
11. It is important to repeat the addition of Invernator in the middle of the winter season.

EMPTY THE POOL

NEVER EMPTY YOUR POOL WITHOUT CHECKING THE DRAIN!

Before emptying your pool always check the drain pipe and, if necessary, empty it. Remember that your pool's guarantee does not
cover possible damage caused by non-compliance with this safety standard.

In the engine room make the following changes:

• With the engine switched off;

• Turning on the FUND RATE tap;
• Close the remaining taps;
• Move the function valve to the
ESVAZIARY position;
• Start the engine on the MANUAL..

Important Note: If your pool does not have a FUND RATE valve. Once the process of emptying the pool has begun, it should not
be interrupted, since poderá́ the "emptying" of the plumbing occurs, making it impossible to continue the emptying process.
Always keep an eye on the engine in order to switch off after the emptying process is over.
