1. Activity Description

With this activity, the following learning outcomes are expected:
Design a strategic proposal with tactics and indicators to create value for the
company.

The activity consists of:

This course is in English and as it is specified in the Rules and conditions for
course development: “The student must develop the proposed activities on due
time, in English. Contributions in different languages won´t be evaluated”.

Individual
The student develops the following activities:

1. Read the case that was already studied in Phase 2 of the course, attached to the
Learning Environment as Annex 2 - The Diamond Supermarket:

Rojas, R. (2017). Case The Diamond Supermarket

2. Each student reads and reviews the references for Unit 2 at the Learning
Environment to understand different strategies that could be applied to sort out
the situation of the company.

3. To carry out a strategy proposal for the company in the case, each student of
the group chooses one of the following strategies:

3. Related Diversification
4. Unrelated Diversification
5. Divestiture

Post the topic selection in the Discussion forum – Unit 2, according to the
following chart:

Each student must respect the other students´ selection, it means for
example, if one student selects Retrenchment Strategy, none of the other four
students can develop the Retrenchment Strategy, they must choose another
topic. In case a second student presents the development related to the
Retrenchment Strategy, it won´t be evaluated.

Note: If some of your classmates don't chose some topic because he or she
doesn't participate in the forum, the group can present only the topics
developed for the classmates who have participated in the job. It means
for example if there are only three active students, their document will have only
three topics developed, however all students must read and review all references
to have a general understanding of all topics.

4. According to the previous readings and selection, your own understanding of the
company in the case and your search on internet:

paper, acrylic board) as a visual aid for a presentation of the case including a
chart proposing a strategy for the situations in the case including the following

5. Record and post in YouTube a 2 - 3 minutes video where the student appears
himself with the hand draw billboard presenting in English the strategic proposal,
mentioning specifically:

• Description of the strategy in general and the implementation of it to sort out
the situation in the case

Collaborative
The group develops the following activities:

6. Each student posts in the collaborative forum the selection of the role to perform
by the student in the group:

• Compiler: Consolidate the document constituted as the final product of the


debate, considering that the contributions of all the participants have been
included and that only the participants who participated in the process are
included.
• Reviewer: Ensure that the writing complies with the rules of presentation of
work required by the teacher.

• Evaluator: Ensure that the document contains the criteria present in the rubric.
You must inform the person in charge of the alerts so that you inform the other
members of the team in case any adjustments have to be made on the subject.
• Deliveries: Notify delivery times of the products and send the document in the
stipulated times, using the resources destined for the shipment, and indicate to
the other partners that the delivery has been made.
• Warnings: Ensure that the members of the group are notified of new
developments and inform the teacher through the work forum and messaging of
the course, which has been sent the document

7. All students in the group review the videos with the proposals from all members
and decide which one is the most suitable for the situation faced by the
company in the case and post the selection in the following chart at the
Discussion forum – Unit 2:

8. Once the students have read the references and selected the strategy, the group
will continue playing the role of Consulting firm with the goal of supporting The
Diamond Supermarket to find investors to improve their performance in the
market.

For Phase 3, as a Consulting Firm the task will be proposing and strategy to sort
out the situation of the Supermarket consolidating the information in Annex 4-
Business Case Part II. This activity should evidences the tactics and
measurable metrics.

9. Save the Business Case Part II as PDF and submit it at the Evaluation
Environment, according to the guidelines given below in section Collaborative
Work Evidences, naming it with the following structure:

10. The student with the “Deliveries” role submits the requested product,
deliver the final PDF in the Evaluation Environment.

In the Learning Environment, you must: Review the Bibliographic references for Unit
2 and post the development of the activities in the Discussion forum – Unit 2.

the structured indicated in this guide.

proposal (Activity 8)

7. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences to Submit.

For Collaborative evidence, consider the following:

• All members of the group must participate with their contributions in the
development of the activity.

• All contents included in the work or forum must be in English.

• In each group a single member will be chosen to submit the requested product in
the environment indicated by the teacher.

• Before submitting the requested product, students should check that it meets all
the requirements mentioned in this activity guide.

• Only the members of the group that participated with contributions during the
time assigned for the activity should be included as authors of the submitted
product.

Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA Format.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found on the virtual
campus.

Under the Academic Code of Conduct, the actions that infringe the academic order,
among others, are the following: paragraph e) "Plagiarism is to present as your own
work all or part of a written report, task or document of invention carried out by
another person. It also implies the use of citations or lack of references, or it
includes citations where there is no match between these and the reference" and
paragraph f) "To reproduce, or copy for profit, educational resources or results of
