RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND

COMMENDING JACLYN JOSE FOR WINNING BEST ACTRESS AT THE RECENTLY
CONCLUDED 2016 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL IN FRANCE

WHEREAS, on March 22, 2016, the Cannes International Film Festival awarded the best actress
award to Filipino Actress Mary Jane Santa Ana Guck, more popularly known as “Jaclyn Jose” for her
role in the film “Ma Rosa” at the 69th International Film Festival, Cannes, Southern France;

WHEREAS, , better known by her stage name Jaclyn Jose was born on March 16, 1964 in Angeles,
Pampanga to a Filipina mother and American serviceman father;

WHEREAS, the 52-year old cinematic and television actress became famous in Philippine showbiz
circles for her ethereal beauty;

WHEREAS, she has proven to be versatile and hard-working actress, starring in dramas, comedies,
horror stories, romances and television soap operas who has earned critical acclaim from both local
and foreign award-giving bodies;

WHEREAS, this is the first time that the Cannes Best Actress award was conferred to a Filipino and
the first time that a Southeast Asian won the award;

WHEREAS, Jose’s talent, dedication, hard work and perseverance in perfecting her craft is a joy to
movie goers and an inspiration for people aspiring to have a career in the film industry;

WHEREAS, for bringing pride, glory, and honor to herself, her director, her family, and to all
Filipinos, both here and abroad, Jaclyn Jose deserves to be commended by the House of
Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the House of

Representatives congratulates and commends Jaclyn Jose for winning the Best Actress award for her
role in the film “Ma Rosa” at the 69th International Film Festival, Cannes, Southern France;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the House of Representatives direct the Secretary General to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Jaclyn Jose.
