Lesson Title: Concepts and Components of Emergency Preparedness and Safety Management

I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
 Define and explain the terms emergency, preparedness, and safety management
 Identify and describe the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and
recovery
 Recognize and apply the principles and practices of safety management in various settings and scenarios
 Demonstrate and evaluate the use of basic first aid skills and equipment in emergency situations
Materials: PowerPoint presentation, laptop, projector, screen, whiteboard, markers, first aid kit, bandages, gauze, gloves,
scissors, etc.
Procedures:
II. Introduction (10 minutes)
o Greet the students and introduce the topic of the lesson

o Ask the students to share their experiences or knowledge of emergencies and how they prepared or
responded to them
o Write down the key words and concepts on the whiteboard

o Explain the objectives and expectations of the lesson

III. Presentation (20 minutes)


o Show the PowerPoint presentation that covers the following topics:

 Definition and examples of emergency, preparedness, and safety management


 The four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery
 The principles and practices of safety management in various settings and scenarios
o Use relevant images, videos, and case studies to illustrate the concepts and engage the students

o Pause after each topic and ask the students to summarize or ask questions

IV. Practice (20 minutes)


o Divide the students into small groups and assign each group a different emergency scenario (e.g., fire,
earthquake, flood, etc.)
o Ask each group to discuss and plan how they would apply the concepts and components of emergency
preparedness and safety management in their scenario
o Provide each group with a first aid kit and other materials they may need

o Ask each group to present their plan and demonstrate their first aid skills in front of the class

o Provide feedback and guidance to each group

 Evaluation (10 minutes)


o Ask the students to complete a short quiz or worksheet that tests their understanding of the lesson.

o Review the answers and correct any misconceptions or errors


o Ask the students to reflect on what they learned and how they can apply it in their future careers or
personal lives
 Conclusion (5 minutes)
o Summarize the main points and objectives of the lesson

o Thank the students for their participation and attention

o Assign any homework or follow-up activities
