A digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR) is a digital camera that combines the
optics and the mechanisms of a single-lens reflex camera with a solid-state image sensor
and digitally records the images from the sensor.
The reflex design scheme is the primary difference between a DSLR and other digital
cameras. In the reflex design, light travels through the lens and then to a mirror that
alternates to send the image to either a prism, which shows the image in the optical
viewfinder, or the image sensor when the shutter release button is pressed. The viewfinder
of a DSLR presents an image that will not differ substantially from what is captured by the
camera's sensor as it presents it as a direct optical view through the main camera lens,
rather than showing an image through a separate secondary lens.
DSLRs largely replaced film-based SLRs during the 2000s. Major camera manufacturers
began to transition their product lines away from DSLR cameras to mirrorless
interchangeable-lens cameras (MILCs) beginning in the 2010s.
A single-lens reflex camera (SLR) is a camera that typically uses a mirror and prism
system (hence "reflex" from the mirror's reflection) that permits the photographer to
view through the lens and see exactly what will be captured. With twin lens reflex and
rangefinder cameras, the viewed image could be significantly different from the final
image. When the shutter button is pressed on most SLRs, the mirror flips out of the light
path, allowing light to pass through to the light receptor and the image to be captured.
In a two-point lighting setup, two light sources are usually placed at 45 degree angle from
the subject. One of them is your key light, which is the main light used to illuminate the
subject, and the second is your fill light which helps to remove harsh shadows on the subject
that are created by the key light. Source.
The three main light sources for any 3-point lighting setup include a key, a fill, and a back
light. These three sources can vary in terms of angle, intensity and even color, but the
principle use for each of these three lights always remains the same.

As the name suggests, mirrorless cameras capture images without the use of a mirror in the
camera body. This is different from DSLR cameras, which reflect images into viewfinders via
mirrors.
A medium format camera is a type of digital camera that uses a sensor that is larger than
the standard 35mm full-frame sensor. The size of the sensor varies depending on the brand
and model, but typically ranges from 44x33mm to 54x40mm.
