Lips Appliques
Lips Appliques
PROPS
Here’s another of my #palettecleanser projects, little projects that take little time and little yarn,
but give big satisfactions and hopefully, big smiles too – pun intended! I hope you find lots of
fun uses for these crochet lips appliques!
I originally made them for a larger project, but when I shared them on Instagram, a friend asked
if I was making them for photo props. I hadn’t actually though of that use, but yeah, sure! I
used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, which is mercerized cotton yarn. It’s listed as a worsted weight
4, but I find it to be a bit thinner than other worsted weight yarns, yet not as thin as a DK. Used
with an F/3.75mm hook, I can work enough stitches to provide detail without having the lips
end up being too large. And what a vibrant red this is too!
There’s not much to the pattern itself. Basically, you work a whole bunch of chains, work a
bunch of simple stitches down one side of the chain, then work a bunch more simple stitches up
the other side of the chain. Your work may warp a bit, so if you’d like it flat, just soak it in
some cold water, and then lay it out flat to dry. You can also pin it down* to achieve the shape
you want.
