mà với mục đích TẠI SAO CHỖ NÀY MÌNH KHÔNG NGHE ĐƯỢC (DO TỪ MỚI, DO PHÁT ÂM SAI,…), TẠI SAO

HARD WORK PAYS OFF G N –

JUDY: Any idea of the price to repair it?
MICHAEL: Well, I had an estimate done on this actually because it is a very special table to us. They
quoted us $200, which is (22)………………. so I hope the insurance will

JUDY: I’m sure that will be fine. What was the last item, Mr Alexander?
MICHAEL: Well, we have (24)……………………………………………………., you know, with matching cups,
saucers, the lot. They were all in the one box which must have got dropped because

MAN: Well, we’d need four, because I’m going to (3)…………………………..
WOMAN: Okay, there are several of that size on our books. They mostly belong to families who are
working abroad at the moment. What about the location?
MAN: It’d be nice to (4)…………………………...
WOMAN: That might be difficult, as most houses of that size are (5)…………….. Still, there are a few.
What’s your (6)………………………………..?
MAN: We’d like something (7)…………………………………., but we could go up to £600 if we have to.
But we (8)…………………………….. that.

MAN: Well, as soon as possible, really, so that means (13)…………………...
WOMAN: Okay, let me have a look at what we’ve got.... We have photographs of all the houses on

(15)………………………. It doesn’t have (16)…………, though you can (17)……………………...
MAN: Ah, we’d prefer to have one, if possible.
WOMAN: Right. Then have a look at this house, in Mead street. It’s got (18)…

MAN: How much is it?
WOMAN: That one’s 580. It’s very well furnished and equipped. It also has plenty of space for

MAN: I don’t think we could cope with that, to be honest. We’ll be too busy to look after it.
WOMAN: Okay. Then there’s this older house in Hamilton Road: living room, kitchen-diner, and it has
(20)……………….. 550 a month.
MAN: That looks rather nice. But whereabouts in Hamilton Road?
WOMAN: Towards the western end.
MAN: Oh, that’ll be (21)…………………. I know the area.
WOMAN: Yes, it’s pretty lively. Some people like it, though. Well, what about this house in Devon
Close?
MAN: That looks lovely.
WOMAN: There’s (22)…………………………….in that area, so prices tend to be quite high. But this one
hasn’t been decorated for a few years, which has (23)……………………………………….. It’s got a
living room, dining room and small kitchen, and it’s (24)………………………... I think it would
suit you, from what you’ve said
MAN: It sounds fine.
MAN: Why’s that part of town so popular?
WOMAN: Well, there’s a big scheme to (25)……………………………….., and it’ll soon have

ROB: Yes, that’s right, (4) ………………………….. Make sure you don’t go to (5)
……………………………….! And there’s an additional performer who isn’t mentioned on the
posters - Carolyn Hart is going to play with the band.
MELANIE: Oh, I think I’ve heard her on the radio. Doesn't she play the oboe, or flute or
something?
ROB: Yes, the flute. She usually plays with symphony orchestras, and apparently this is her first
time with a jazz band.
MELANIE: Well, I’d certainly like to hear her. Then the next thing I want to ask about is (6)
………………………….. - I saw a poster beside a river. What are they, exactly?
ROB: Well, you buy a yellow plastic duck - or as many as you like - they’re a pound each. And
you write your name on each one. There’ll be several races, depending on the number of
ducks taking part. And John Stevens, a champion swimmer who lives locally, is going to
start the races. All the ducks will be launched into the river (7) ………………………………., then
they’ll float along the river for 500 metres, as far as the railway bridge.
MELANIE: And are there any prizes?
ROB: Yes, the first duck in each race to arrive at the finishing line wins its owner (8)
…………………………… on the last night of the festival.
MELANIE: You said you can buy a duck? I’m sure my children will both want one.
ROB: They’re on sale at (9) …………………………….. You can’t miss it - it’s got an enormous sign
showing a couple of ducks.
MELANIE: OK. I’ll go there this afternoon. I remember walking past there yesterday. Now could you

MELANIE: Is it easy to find? I’m not very familiar with the town yet.
ROB: Oh, you won’t have any problem. It’s right in the center of Stretton. It’s the only old

MELANIE: I know it. I presume it’s open all day.

MELANIE: Five and seven. What about ‘The Mystery of Muldoon’?
ROB: That’s (14)………………………….-year-olds.
MELANIE: So if I take my children, I can expect them to enjoy it more than I do?
ROB: I think so. If you’d like something for yourself and your husband, and

TC EMPLOYEE: Sure. How about taking your family for a cruise? We have a steamship that
(2)……………………………… several times a day - it’s (3)………………………...
VISITOR: That sounds interesting. How long is the trip?
TC EMPLOYEE: About an hour and a half. And don’t forget to (4)………………….. ……………………………..
They’re all around you when you’re on the boat and they look fantastic.
VISITOR: OK. And I assume there’s a café or something on board?
TC EMPLOYEE: Sure. How old are your children?
VISITOR: Er, (5)…………………………………………………….
TC EMPLOYEE: Right. Well there are various things you can do once you’ve (6)………………………, to
make a day of it. One thing that’s very popular is a visit to the Country Farm. You’re
met off the boat by the farmer and he’ll take you to the (7)……………………, where
the sheep are kept. Children love feeding them!
VISITOR: My son would love that. He really likes animals.
TC EMPLOYEE: Well, there’s also a (8)…………………… trek round the farm (9).. ………………….., if he

VISITOR: Do you think he’d manage it? He hasn’t done that before.
TC EMPLOYEE: Sure. It’s (10)………………………………………….
VISITOR: Ah, good.
TC EMPLOYEE: And again, visitors are welcome to explore the farm on their own, as long as they
take care to close gates and so on. There are (11)……………………………………….. along
the side of the lake which also belong to the farm - they’ll be just at their best now.
You could easily spend an hour or two there.

we don’t have bikes here... Is there somewhere we could rent them?
TC EMPLOYEE: Yes, there’s a place here in the city. It’s called Ratchesons.

VISITOR: Fine. That shouldn’t be a problem. And I assume I can (22)……… …………………… from

time for the last boat.
VISITOR: Yeah. So what sort of prices are we looking at here?
TC EMPLOYEE: Let’s see, that’d be one adult and one child for the cruise with farm tour, that’s
$117, and an adult and a child for the cruise only so that’s

PAUL: Actually Carol and I have been meaning to join for a while.
SUSIE: Oh, you should. It doesn’t cost anything, and the new library has (2)……………………………...
It’s not just a place where you borrow books. For instance, there’s an area with
(3)……………….. ……… where you can sit and read the magazines they have there. Some
people spend the whole morning there.
PAUL: Mmm. Wish I had that amount of time to spend!
SUSIE: Yes, you must be pretty busy at present, with the children and everything?
