ELECTRICAL SCHEMATICS
6/2006 Revision 3.0
INTRODUCTION
The Krones electrical schematics are designed to graphically depict the electrical design both
electrically and physically. When you understand the structure of the drawings, in addition to
being able to trace circuits, you will know locations of components, wire & cable routes,
terminal locations, wire numbers and color codes.

These advantages pay off with a greater comprehension of the equipment, which reduces trouble-
shooting time.

The appendix has all the navigation symbol mnemonics in tables for quick access.

1. OVERVIEW
1.1. The Krones Schematic uses a Function Group design to structure the drawing. A
Function Group is a method of dividing machine functions into logical blocks. The
structure uses designations to lead you through from the complete machine (least
amount of detail) to individual connection points (greatest amount of detail).

The Drawing breaks down logically:

1.1.1. The drawing
1.1.2. The drawing set is divided into logical sections (i.e. Table of Contents, Legend,
Schematic, etc)
1.1.3. Sections contain Function Groups that include all the components required for a
specific function.
1.1.4. Function Groups break down to components
1.1.5. Components break down to connection points

3. SECTION DEFINITIONS
The drawing is divided into sections based on the type of information. This quickly
establishes the purpose of the information on the page.

3.1. DA = Technical Data

DA pages note incoming power requirements, etc.

3.2. DIA = Diagrams

DIA pages are drawings of the machine overview, operator panel layouts,
communications paths, etc.

3.3. INH = Table of Contents

INH breaks the drawing down by function, location and page number to easily locate
items when the component number is not known. Revision dates for each sheet are also
noted.

3.4. LEG = Legend

LEG pages are explanations of drawing mnemonics, color-codes, location definitions,
etc. The legend section contains brief examples of everything in this manual.

3.5. SSL = Control panel layout

SSL is the physical layout drawing of the control panels

3.6. STR = Schematics

STR pages contain the graphical representation of the wiring.

3.7. VBV = Terminal Block Layout

VBV are layouts of the terminal blocks and the connections to the terminal. During
construction this section is used for layout and connection. After installation it is an
excellent trouble-shooting aid.

3.8. XKB = Cable Assignment Detail

XKB details the cable routes and the conductors within the cable. During construction
this section is used for cable connection. After installation it is an excellent trouble-
shooting aid.

3.9. XKT = Cable List

XKT details the cables as units (i.e. a cable is a component of the machine). During
construction this section is used to pull cable. After installation it is an excellent trouble-
shooting aid.

4. NAVIGATING THE SCHEMATIC

This section explains the mnemonics as they pertain to the Drawing, Page, Machine, Device,
Connection point, Cable and Wire.

4.1. Title block

The majority of navigation requires the Function Group number and Page number
See Figure 4.1.

4.1.1. Diagram Type - A designation describing the type of information on the page.
See Section 3 for Section Definitions.

4.1.2. Physical Location - This designation is the default location of the components on
the machine that are shown on this page. A plus " + " sign is the symbol for
"physical location". See Section 7.2 for Machine level designations.

4.1.3. The Function Group designations are the default values for all the devices on the
page. See Fig 4.1 and Sections 4.2 & 4.3 for details

4.1.3.1. Installation - Installation describes which machine the page is used for. An
equal " = " sign is the symbol for "installation".

4.1.3.2. Function Group - Function Groups are sections of the drawing dedicated to
a unique function of the machine. A period " . " is the symbol for "function
group". The first two digits after the "." is the function group number.

4.1.3.3. Instance - Instance uniquely identifies a function when a function group is

used more than once. The instance number is the third & fourth digits after
the "." symbol.

4.1.4. “Sheet” block

4.1.4.1. Page Number - is the master page number within the function group.

4.1.4.2. Page Number / Total Pages - is actual consecutive page number within the
drawing followed by the total number of pages in the drawing.

4.1.5. Machine Number - is the serial number of the machine.

4.2. Installation Level Designations

Installation describes the type of machine the page or drawing is dedicated to. An
equals " = " sign is the symbol for "installation"
(i.e. “=ET” is the symbol for a labeler and "=TBB" is the symbol for bottle conveyor).
See Section 7.2 for a complete list of installation designations.

When you see a "=ET", it is a reference to the labeler as a whole.

4.3. Function Group Level Designations

Function Groups are sections of the drawing dedicated to a unique function of the
machine. A function group may be used more than once in a drawing (i.e. you may
have two conveyor motors but they are the same electrical function).

A period " . " is the symbol for "function group". The function group number is the
first & second digits after the "." symbol.

Funtions groups are assigned Instance numbers. This will uniquely identify the
function group when it is used more than once. The instance number is the third &
fourth digits after the "." symbol.

(i.e. ".5201" is function group 52 and it is the first time used).

Example: =ET1.5201
01 notes the first time group 52 is used
.52 notes function group 52
1 notes the first labeler in the line
=ET notes a labeler

4.4. Device Level Designations

Devices are assigned symbols based on the function group they belong to and the
instance of the symbol on the page. A hyphen " - " is the symbol for "device".

4.4.1. Figure 4.4.1 is a basic device (push button) with all possible details shown. In
most cases only the Location and Symbol will be on the drawing. This is because
the installation and function group are in the title block.

NOTE: The Counter within page that is part of the Device symbol.
A type of device may appear on a page many times. (i.e. 5 push buttons). This is
the same concept as the function group "instance".
(i.e. The first PB on page 10 would be "PB101"
The second PB on page 10 would be "PB102")

SIMPLIFY THE IMFORMATION

Remember each description is broken apart logically with delimiters

(i.e. = . + - ). This allows you to get the information you want quickly.

Function Groups & Instances (i.e. .5201) have been described separately to help
explain structure. For your everyday use refer to ".5201" as "Function Group".
This document will follow that rule from this point forward.

4.4.2. Parent / Child relationships
Sometimes a component (i.e. a contact on a switch) is shown on multiple pages or
multiple locations on a single page. This is called a parent-child relationship.
The origin of the device is the parent and the piece located on another page is the
child. All devices are referenced with the parent symbol.

The child symbol always uses the installation and function group of the parent
symbol.

Note the symbols compared to the title blocks in Figure 4.2.2.

NOTE: If any piece of the designation is not printed by the component, the title
block already displays the correct information.

Think of this as giving driving directions. The closer someone is to you the less
information you need to give them.

4.5. Cable & Wire Level Designations

Cable designations are numbers assigned to every cable. The number refers to the
cable as a whole (i.e. the cable is a component).

Wire designations are numbers assigned to a connection point.

(i.e. the number on a wire references the termination point where it is connected)
NOTE: Designation tags on wires within a cable are optional. Cables have
sequence numbers printed on each wire, which makes a separate label unnecessary.

4.5.1. A cable designation includes the Installation and Location designations.

If a cable is potted to the device (i.e. permanently connected), the cable is

referenced by the device name.
(i.e. a potted cable for .5501-SOL101 is " =ET1.5501+ET-SOL101 ")
If a cable is a separate component the device name will be replaced by a "W"
(i.e. the cable connected to .5501-MTR101 is " =ET1 .5501+ET-W101 ")

Each cable will be labeled with the cable number at both ends.

4.5.2. A wire designation is the terminal point where the wire connects.
(i.e. The vacuum pump connection points are U,V,W,PE "
and an individual wire in the cable is "U" or "V" or "W" or "PE").
Each single wire will be labeled with the connection point at the termination.
If the customer has opted, wires within a cable will also be labeled.

6. Glossary

. A symbol that denotes function group and instance designation.

+ A symbol that denotes physical location within the machine The

mnemonic "+KK" describe the operator control panel

- A symbol that denotes a device name. The mnemonic “-MTR” is a

motor

= A symbol that denotes installation designation. The mnemonic "=ET1"

the first labeler in the line.

Delimiter A character or symbol used to separate and identify meanings

Drawing The complete set of the printed electrical design. This includes all
sections (i.e. Table of Contents, Legend, Schematics, etc).

Function Block A section of the drawing dedicated to a specific function of the machine.
Or Function groups are not voltage specific and will contain any high
Function Group voltage, control voltage and communications required by the devices in
that group.
(i.e. Function Group 20 = Main Drive. This includes all associated
components such as the AFD, contactor, overloads, I/O points etc).

Installation An entire machine described with the installations symbol "="

Instance An instance number uniquely identifies a function group or device when

it is used more than once.

The instance number of a function group is the third & fourth digits after
the "." symbol
(i.e. the first time group 52 is used is ".5201"
the second time group 52 is used is ".5202")

The instance number of a device is the last digit of device designation.

(i.e. PB151 is on page 15 and is the first time the symbol is used on that
page)

Schematic The section of the drawing that graphically depicts the electrical wiring.

Zone A section of a page delimited by numbers in the outer left hand border

Zone Number A number used to define a section or "zone" of the page
