The chart compares the literacy rate of people who can read and write in various
regions of the world with the distribution of gender.
All in all, there are five areas that delinate different literacy rates for men and women. As can be from the chart, the two regions that have the highest literacy rates are Central Asia and Central Europe. The number of female literacy rates are nearly the same numbers as male with both two genders reaching rates of nearly 100 percent. South and West Asia show the biggest difference between men and women, While the male literacy rate is 80%, the female literacy rate is just under 60 percentage, this difference is up to 20%. Meanwhile, the least literate region of both genders is Sub-Sahara Africa, Evidence shows that male literacy has not yet reached three-quarters, correspondingly this place is under 60% with the female. The percentage difference between the most and least illiterate areas is more than one-fourth with men and 40 percent with women which happened between Central Asia or Central Europe and Sub-Sahara Africa. To summarize, therefor, the literacy rate of males is higher than females in most countries.
