Step by Step Instructions for Inserting Video and Audio Instructions

Video Instructions
1. In your Canvas dashboard, locate and select the course that you would like to work in.
2. Once you are in your chosen course, select the module and page you would like to work
in.
3. Select the pencil icon with the word “edit” in the top right corner of the screen.
4. You should now see a large text box with various icons above it. In the third section of
icons, select the third button that shows a video and music graphic together.
5. Select the “upload/record media” option.
6. The pop-up screen will give you two options:
a. Computer – If you have a previously recorded or downloaded video file, you may
select it at this time. Press submit and the video file will be placed into the text
box.
7. Select record. This option is best if you want to make a new video to insert directly into
the Canvas page. This option will not save the video to your personal files or cloud
account.
8. Make sure that your webcam and mic are both on and begin recording and provide the
first set of instructions for your students to follow along the learning path. Select the
“finish” option to stop recording.
9. If you are not comfortable with your recording, select the “start over” option. If you have
comfortable with the recording, select “save media”.
10. The video will automatically insert itself into the text box.
11. Scroll down and press save.
12. The instructional video for your learning path is now available in the selected page.

Audio Instructions
1. In your Canvas dashboard, locate and select the course that you would like to work in.
2. Once you are in your chosen course, select the module and page you would like to work
in.

7. Select record. This option is best if you want to make a new audio to insert directly into
the Canvas page. This option will not save the audio to your personal files or cloud
account.
8. Pan over to the webcam button to select the “no video” option. This will ensure that only
audio is recorded once you begin.
9. Select the “start recording” button.
10. If you are not comfortable with your recording, select the “start over” option. If you have
comfortable with the recording, select “save media”.
11. The audio will automatically insert itself into the text box.
12. Scroll down and press save.
13. The instructional audio for your learning path is now available in the selected page.
