Question 1: Assume that the PV systems are deployed in Mumbai at latitude tilt. For each
module and inverter combination, design an optimal PV system using default values of other
parameters in SAM (given below) and answer the following questions:

a) Describe the electrical connections for each of the systems - number of modules in
series / parallel strings. If you run into a difficulty / think it’s not possible, justify why it’s
not possible. [18]
b) For each system - report the DC / AC ratio, total module area, total number of modules,
number of units produced in one year and monthly generation for the first year. [30]
c) Which of the six systems is most likely to be preferred by a typical rooftop solar
customer? Justify your answer [4]
d) Submit the SAM files for each of the six PV systems [6].
