Newton’s First law

- The laws are statements that are caused by the different types of forces such as
gravity, friction, and a push or pull.
- The first law states that an object will maintain in rest until an external force acts
upon it
- Weight is an external force because is caused by something external to the object
- The NET force is the vector sum of the external forces acting on an object, these
forces can cancel eachother or sum each other depending on the nature of the
movement.
- Centripetal motion requires force
- Force is directed towards the center of the objects path
- Without the centripetal force the object will go in a straight line
- The net force depends on the object's mass. If the mass is large the acceleration will
be small (depending on the force applied)
- The mass of an object depends on its volume and its composition
- Mass is not the same as weight, they are related because the objects mass is
proportional to its mass

Newton's Second law

- This law expresses the relationship between force and acceleration
- Force and acceleration are both vectors
- the direction of an object movement is the same as the net force direction applied to
it
