Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

Dinosaurs

The word dinosaur means 'terrible lizard'. Dinosaurs lived for more than 150 million years and
disappeared some 63 million years ago. They were the largest animals that ever lived on the
earth. (1)

Lizard-like dinosaurs were the largest meat-eating dinosaurs. They were fierce and other big
animals were terrified of them. The bird-like dinosaurs ate plants. They had a beak-like bone in
front of their teeth and bony plates in their skin. (2)

Tyrannosaurus Rex

This was a huge, meat-eating dinosaur that lived 85 to 65 million years ago in humid open
forests near rivers. It was about 14 metres long and 6 metres tall. It weighed about 7 tons. (3)

It had a huge head and a short muscular neck. It had strong teeth and jaw muscles. It had about
50 to 60 large, sharp and conical teeth that could crunch bones. It could eat 230 kgs of meat and
bones in one bite. It had two powerful legs and walked on its toes. Its tail was stiff and pointed.
This helped it balance and make quick turns easily while running. Its skin was rough, scaly and
bumpy. (4)
