Practice Activity 4 (35pts.)

Submit list of all firefighting equipment and explain the use/function of each.

1. Fire Extinguisher: Used to control or extinguish small fires. It's essential for
immediate response to a fire before it escalates.
2. Fire Hose: A high-pressure hose that carries water or other fire retardant to
extinguish the fire.

3. Fire Axe: Used for breaking down doors, windows or walls when fighting a fire.

4. Fireman's Suit: Also known as bunker gear, it's heat-resistant to protect

firefighters from the fire.

5. Helmet: Protects the head from falling debris and impact.

6. Boots: Fire-resistant boots which are waterproof and designed to protect the feet
from heat and debris.

7. Gloves: Fire-resistant gloves to protect the hands when handling equipment and
rescuing people.

8. Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA): Provides breathable air in

an IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) environment.

9. Thermal Imaging Camera: Used to locate the source of a fire or to find people in
smoke-filled environments.

10. Halligan Bar: A forcible entry tool used by firefighters to pry, twist, punch, or
strike.

11. Pike Pole: A long-handled tool with a pointed end used for pulling down ceilings
or walls to check for hidden fires.
 12. Jaws of Life: A hydraulic tool used to pry open vehicles and other metal
structures to free people trapped inside.

13. Flashlight: Used to provide visibility in dark or smoke-filled environments.

14. Gas Detector: Used to detect the presence of harmful gases in the environment.

15. Fire Blanket: A safety device designed to extinguish small incipient fires.

Each piece of equipment has a specific purpose and is crucial to the safety and
effectiveness of firefighting operations.
