Mechanical Engineering which helped us in successfully completing our
project work.
 Introduction

A two-sleeve pulley block, also known as a double-sheave pulley block, is a

fundamental mechanical device utilized in a multitude of applications across
industries. It serves as a pivotal component in systems requiring directional
changes and mechanical advantage. Through its ingenious design, the two-
sleeve pulley block enables the redirection and transmission of force with
enhanced efficiency and versatility.
At its core, the two-sleeve pulley block comprises two pulleys, each
mounted on its own independent sleeve. This dual-sleeve arrangement
grants the system increased flexibility and adaptability to diverse operational
requirements.
By allowing the sleeves to rotate independently, the pulley block
accommodates varying angles of force application and facilitates seamless
movement in multiple directions.
One of the primary functions of the two-sleeve pulley block is to alter the
direction of a force. When integrated into a mechanical system, it effectively
redirects the applied force along a different path, enabling the
accomplishment of tasks that necessitate changes in directionality.
This capability is invaluable in scenarios such as lifting and hauling
operations, where precise control over the direction of force is crucial for
optimal performance.Furthermore, the two-sleeve pulley block serves as a
mechanism for achieving mechanical advantage.
The design of the two-sleeve pulley block is characterized by its simplicity and
efficiency. Each pulley is mounted on a sleeve equipped with bearings or
bushings to facilitate smooth rotation.
Additionally, the pulleys are typically constructed from durable materials such as
steel or aluminum to withstand heavy loads and prolonged use in
demanding environments. In terms of applications, the two-sleeve pulley
block finds extensive use across various industries and domains.
Two Sheave Pulley Block
This motor controlled Wire Rope Pulley Block Double Sheave is required
for effortless loading and shifting of heavy goods. Developed from ductile
iron, this pulley is used in farms, mines and factories. It consists of
necessary parts like axle pin, side strap, nut, cross head and partition
plate to name a few.
Application: A block and tackle system which combined with many pulleys is
often in conjunction with a winch, mast or other lifting equipments and it is
usually used in construction and installation work like lifting tower, stringing,
hoisting works.

The main parts of a pulley are:

Shell or frame – This is the outer casing of the pulley. Pulley wheel or sheave
This is the wheel-shaped part

That the rope or belt runs over.

Axle – The axle is the shaft on which the pulley wheel rotates.

Rope groove – The groove in the pulley wheel where the rope or belt runs.

Mechanical Advantage of Two Pulley Block System:

In a two pulley block system, the mechanical advantage is equal to the number of
rope sections supporting the load. If there are two rope sections supporting
the load, the mechanical advantage is 2.

Application of two Sheave Pulley block:-

Sheaves are also Commonly known as Pulleys, and when two or More
pulleys are used Together for extra Strength, this is known as
a sheave block. Rope pulleys were used as far back as the 1500s to hoist water
out of wells, and they were likely used to lift and move heavy rocks that created

Over the centuries, the overall design of sheave blocks has not changed too
much. These days, they are typically made with an alloy mix of iron and
steel. Some models also add carbon and silicon for extra durability.
While sheaves may be a relatively small piece of hardware, they play a
crucial part in mechanical engineering and lifting equipment. They are used in
tandem with a rope, belt,or cable to lift items with a crane.
Essentially, a sheave is a wheel with an open groove that a rope or cable
fits around so it can rotate around the exterior. One end of the cable is
attached to an item that needs to be moved, while the other is attached to a
fixed object, like the base of a crane. The cable smoothly moves over the
wheel of the sheave as it is wound up on the fixed object, lifting the other object
into the air.
