GUIDELINES FOR PAPER SETTERS

1. For Questions (Ms Word)

2. Bloom Taxonomy- From K1 to K6 for the questions.
3. Course Outcome- From CO1 to CO5.
4. Paper Margin-

5. There can be maximum 30% common content of the syllabus in 2 sets of question papers.
6. Make sure you have the latest syllabus and you are familiar with the assessment criteria.
7. Work on a Specification Grid. Before and after setting the paper, check that all the test items are
based on the respective syllabus and that the items.
8. Develop a Marking Scheme alongside the Specification Grid.
9. Check that the duration of the examination is entered correctly on the paper.
10. Proof read the text.
11. Pass on the finalized draft of the paper to Moderation committee who has to proof read the text
again and will ensure that no test item is out of syllabus, check that all sets asked are workable and
that the paper can be completed in the set time.
12. Make the necessary changes in the examination paper and the marking scheme as advised by the
Moderation Committee.
13. Hand in the Marking Scheme together with the Examination Paper to Head of the Department.
14. The layout of the paper should be as clear as possible to make it as student friendly as possible.

15. The information contained on a page should be well structured and it should be clear and
unambiguous. They should be presented in bold type.
16. Check that the diagrams, pictures or photographs used are necessary, helpful and of high quality.
17. Ensure that marks assigned for each question/ section is clearly indicated on the paper.
18. Use the simplest language and structure possible to convey clearly and unambiguously the meaning
of the question.
