INTRODUCTION
Mrs. Adesuyi, Adekemi Victoria joined the services of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife
on the 4th of February 2013 as Confidential Secretary I and she was deployed to the Department
of Family, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences. She was promoted to the rank of Principal
Confidential Secretary II in October, 2020. As Principal Confidential Secretary II in the
Department, her schedule of duties include: handling administrative aspect of the Department,
maintaining appropriate filing system, typing of documents and attending to visitors. She also
prepares and monitor imprest account, Cash Advance, Expenditure Authorization and Approval
Forms, Combined Requisition Issued Voucher, Local Purchase Orders and auditing of purchased
items as well as other relevant financial documents. She is involved in processing of relevant
forms related to students’ academic matters to the appropriate offices with proper monitoring and
control as and when due. In addition, she performs other duties as may be assigned to her by the
Head of the Department.

A. QUALIFICATIONS
Mrs. Adesuyi holds Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Secretarial Studies and Higher
National Diploma (HND) in Office Technology and Management from Federal Polytechnic
Ede in 2006 and 2009 respectively. She also obtained Diploma in Computer Appreciation in
2003 from Femaks Computer, Ile Ife. She just completed a degree programme at National
Open University, Nigeria in the Department of Mass Communication. Her results is being
processed. She is a member of Nigeria Institute of Management and Association of
Professional Secretary of Nigeria.

B. JOB KNOWLEDGE
Mrs. Adesuyi exhibits very sound knowledge of the job to satisfaction. She performs
secretarial functions and other tasks as may be assigned by the Head of Department

diligently, she is effective in the discharge of her duties. She takes minutes of meetings and
maintains a well organised filing system. She is also diligent in handling of documents.

C. JOB PERFORMANCE AND OUTPUT


Mrs. Adesuyi performs her duties satisfactorily. She coordinates the Administrative activities
of the Department without hitches. She is painstaking in memo writing and very meticulous
in filing of documents. She is very stable emotionally, as a result, comports herself even in
the midst of agitation. In, summary, she is well coordinated.

(i) Technical Competence


Mrs. Adesuyi is technically competent as she is able to operate the computers,
scanners, photocopiers and other technical gadgets she needs to perform her duties
efficiently.

(ii) Initiative and Self Confidence


Mrs. Adesuyi is full of initiatives – she is reliable and hardworking, confidently she
coordinates her subordinates with utmost respect. She is loyal to both academic and
administrative staff of the Department.

(iii) Ability to Service Meetings


Her ability to service meetings is highly commendable, such as the Departmental
meeting, Departmental Board of Examiners’ Meeting and Departmental Review
Panel Meetings. She is also pro-active in processing Departmental papers to the
Faculty Boards, Committee of Deans, Business Committee of Senate, and to the
Senate with little or no supervision.

(iv) Continued Good Performance


As the Head of Department, I have seen a lot of intelligence in Mrs. Adesuyi’s job
performance. Also, going through her records, there is a clear evidence of continued
good performance of her duties.

D. EXPERIENCE
Mrs. Adesuyi is well grounded in Office Technology and Management. Her working
experience was dated back to 2010. This she has successfully translated to performance in
the Department. Her experience in Computer Appreciation has been of immense benefit in
the discharge of her duties. She is also improving in her performance daily. She has acquired
more knowledge and experience which has put her in good position to be considered for
promotion to the next stage.

E. ATTITUDE TO WORK
She has a good disposition towards her work. She accepts responsibility willingly. She
resumes punctually to work and always on her duty post. She is methodical, easy going, and
very passionate in the discharge of her duties. She relates well with all staff, students and

guests of the Department. She has been working closely with the Head of Department and
other members of staff (Both Academic and Administrative). She zealously and promptly
undertakes any assignment given her by the Head of Department. She willingly stays back to
complete her daily assignments without complaints.
(i) Responsiveness to Training/Demands of the Job
Mrs. Adesuyi is always ready to learn to improve herself on the job. She is always
willing to acquaint herself with modern technologies.
(ii) Cooperativeness
Mrs. Adesuyi is very supportive, peace-loving. She has a very harmonious and
humorous working relationship with members of staff and students.
(iii) Willingness to accept additional responsibilities
Mrs. Adesuyi is selfless, always willing to accept more responsibilities.

F. INTEGRITY
(i) Self - Discipline: Mrs. Adesuyi is truthful, reliable, straight-forward and disciplined.
There has not been an occasion to doubt her integrity or query her ingenuity. She is of
enviable integrity.

(ii) Dependability: Mrs. Adesuyi is dependable and trustworthy, she is very sound that
she can work with little or no supervision.

(iii) Honesty: Mrs. Adesuyi is honest and has never been found wanting in this regard.

G. LEADERSHIP
(i) Ability to Supervise and Control Subordinate Staff
Since assumption of duties in the Department, Mrs. Adesuyi has displayed
outstanding leadership qualities. She heads the Administrative arm of the Department
and coordinates the office staff effectively. She is an upcoming leader in the
Administrative sector.

(ii) Organizing Ability


She organizes her schedule and that of her subordinate staff in such a way that no
hindrance is experienced in the administration of the Department.

Based on Mrs. Adesuyi’s academic qualification, job knowledge, performance, as well as on-the-
job experience acquired as Principal Confidential Secretary II, it is evident that Mrs. Adesuyi,
Adekemi Victoria has grown and matured within the system and worthy of being considered for
promotion to the next stage in her career. It is therefore, without reservation that, I strongly
recommend her for promotion to the position of Principal Confidential Secretary I with effect
from October 1st, 2023.
