Tetra Pak recommends reading all delivered manuals carefully. Make sure
that the delivered manuals are available to personnel who operate or
maintain the equipment.
It is important to keep this manual for the lifetime of the equipment and to
pass the manual on to any subsequent holder or user.
Tetra Pak will not be held responsible for any damage to the equipment
caused by not following the instructions given in this manual.
Delivered Manuals
The manuals delivered with this equipment include
• OM
The Operation Manual manual provides the operator with information
on handling and operating the equipment before, during, and after
production.
• TeM
The Technical Manual provides technicians with information which can
be:
– information required to safely install the equipment
– information required to maintaining the equipment
– information about the machine’s/equipment’s electrical system
– information necessary to order spare parts from Tetra Pak
– other technical information.

The intended use of this Tetra Pak equipment is to heat up the straw ladder
band to smooth any unevenness in the foil and straws.
All other use is prohibited. Tetra Pak will not be held responsible for injury
or damage if the equipment is used for any other purpose.

How to Use This TeM

Installation Instructions Chapter
The Installation Instructions chapter provides technical specifications and
preparatory information needed during the quotation of the equipment and
during the entire installation process. The Installation Instructions chapter
describes the equipment requirements in the packaging line. It also provides
instructions on how to mechanically install, commission, and validate the
performance of the equipment, and how to disassemble and remove the
equipment.
The intended users of the Installation Instructions chapter are project leaders,
installation planners, installation technicians, and other technicians involved
in the equipment installation project.
Installation Workflow
An installation of any Tetra Pak equipment follows the Installation to
Performance process. The process consists of five main activities and the IM
is structured to support the process. See the illustration and the table below.

Maintenance Instructions Chapter

Procedures
The name of the sections in the Maintenance Instructions chapter correspond
to the groups in the structure of the equipment. Procedures correspond to a
chapter or a section:
• The dashes indicate that it is a procedure heading. The example below
shows a heading for Procedure number 3 in Section 1.5.
• The text after the second dash tells what type of procedure it is. Check,
Change and Set are common procedure types.

Maintenance System, TPMS. See the TPMS section.

Procedure Start Table
Procedures in this chapter begin with a table providing information needed to
begin the procedure.
• Machine Status (1) shows actuator status, program step, and any other
machine status necessary to begin the procedure.
• Special Equipment (2) shows a list of personal protective equipment and
special tools that are not normally carried by a service technician, but are
needed in the procedure.
• Consumables (3) shows items, such as lubricants, that are required to
perform the procedure. Consumables do not include replacement parts.
• SPC Reference (4) shows the assembly number, found in the index of
the SPC.

TPMS
To ensure uninterrupted production, all machines and equipment must be
maintained on a regular basis.
Tetra Pak has developed a planned maintenance system to keep pace with the
ongoing development of new and existing machines and equipment from
Tetra Pak, and to meet the demands set by Tetra Pak’s customers for higher
efficiency and better economy.
Planned Maintenance Program
The Tetra Pak planned maintenance system reduces unplanned downtime
and maintenance time for complete production lines, as well as for individual
machines and equipment.
With the Tetra Pak planned maintenance system, preventive maintenance can
be performed before production is affected. The system is continually
updated based on experience with Tetra Pak machines and equipment
worldwide.
The Tetra Pak planned maintenance system maintains records of when
maintenance is performed, when parts are changed, whether alterations are
made, and so on. These records, combined with usage statistics, enable
reliable predictions of the service life of all machine and equipment parts.
Checklists and Spare Parts Recommendations
Customers using the Tetra Pak planned maintenance system receive
checklists from their local Tetra Pak office whenever planned maintenance is
due. These checklists are individualised for each of Tetra Pak’s customer,
according to the type of machine, equipment usage, and maintenance
occasion. In addition, the system recommends spare parts, rotation units,
tools, and templates according to the statistics collected.

The Document List is a table of contents for the documents 2 to 8, listing all
drawings included.
In the Circuit Diagrams section, the first pages are reserved for distribution
terminals and the last pages can be used for pre-connected cables. Pre-
connected cables are connected to spare terminals and are reserved for future
use.
The diagrams in the Mains Connection section show how the machine
should be connected to the local supply, the dimensions of the connection
cable, and the connection of the matching transformer, when used.
The Drawing Remarks section lists the drawing remarks indicated with a
number in the drawing.

designation (2), and a running number (3).

Location Designation
The location designation shows the location of the component:
• +M indicates that the component is fitted on the machine, outside the
electrical cabinet.
• +C indicates that the component is fitted on the electrical cabinet, on the
TPOP, or on the process panel.
Note! The location +C is considered the default and is omitted on all Circuit
diagram pages.
Function Designation
The function designation is indicated in accordance with international
standards.
Examples: Code P for components that present information, such as an alarm
lamp, a clock, or a volt meter. Code M for components that provide
mechanical energy such as an actuator, or an electric motor.
Running Number
The electrical components are numbered in a consecutive non-logical order.

Optional Equipment
An optional equipment designation indicates that the component belongs to
specific optional equipment. The designation numbers for this equipment are
explained in the Drawing Remarks chapter.

How to Trace an Electrical Component

Start tracing an electrical component by finding the correct list with page and
column references to the Circuit Diagram.
Example 1 on pages i-21 to i-22 illustrates how to trace a Line. Use the Line
Summary.
Example 2 on page i-23 illustrates how to trace a contactor. Find page
references in the Position Summary. The procedure is identical when tracing
sensors or other components. For cables, find the page references in the
Cable Connection List. The number of spare cores is shown in the cable
connection list.
Examples 3 and 4 on pages i-24 to i-25 illustrate how to trace a terminal.
Find page references for terminals in the electrical cabinet in the Cabinet
Terminal Summary, and page references for terminals outside the electrical
cabinet in the Terminal Strip Overview.
Example 5 on page i-26 illustrates how to locate a component in the Spare
Parts Catalogue, SPC.

Supply Voltage and Line Connection Order
The supply voltage in the electrical cabinet has power voltage and control
voltage designations.

a) Find the main group (Service Unit) and chapter (2) on the front page.

Definition of Lockout Procedure

A lockout procedure is a procedure to put each necessary energy isolating
device in its safe position to prevent the energisation of the equipment, such
as when a maintenance procedure should be carried out.
A lockout is the use of a device, for example, a padlock, to make sure that an
energy isolating device cannot be operated.
An energy isolating device is a mechanical device that physically prevents
transmission or release of energy, such as a power supply disconnector.

Only skilled or instructed persons are allowed to work with this equipment.
Skilled Person
A skilled person must have relevant education and experience to enable him
or her to identify hazards, analyse risks, and avoid hazards which electricity,
machinery, chemicals, other energies, and supply systems on this equipment
can create.
Skilled persons must meet local regulations, such as certifications and
qualifications for working with electricity, mechanical systems, and so on.
Instructed Person
An instructed person must be adequately advised or supervised by a skilled
person. The skilled person enables the instructed person to identify hazards,
analyse risks, and avoid hazards which electricity, machinery, chemicals,
other energies, and supply systems on this equipment can create.

1.6.1 Space Requirements
The space requirements for this machine are given in the installation
drawings shown in section 1.1 Installation Drawings.

To obtain a proper production, the machine must stand stably on the floor. It
is important that the floor is in a good condition and has an angle of
inclination of less than 4°.

1.11 Commissioning
WARNING
During the final installation check, it is important that the procedures are
followed very carefully since the safety devices may be non-functional. One
of the reasons to make the final installation check is to check that the safety
devices are functioning correctly.
Note! Some steps will require only mechanical checks, others will require
running tests.
Follow these steps to complete the installation check:

1 Inspect the electrical connection. Make sure that the connection is
made properly, and that the machine has the correct electrical
supply.
WARNING
Risk of electrical shock.
The voltage is 230 V inside the electrical cabinet. Contact

injury. In case of accident, call for medical attention
immediately.
2 Make sure that all delivered equipment is assembled in

accordance with the instructions in the Section 1.9 Positioning.
3 Run the machine, see the Operation Manual (OM). Check that all
functions and alarms are working.
4 Make sure there are no abnormal noises, smells, vibrations, and

so on, when the machine is running.

– aluminium
– glass (windows, etcetera)
– rubber (seals, O-rings, etcetera)
– nylon and other plastics

Set the values/parameters as follows:
a) For access to the safety switches, the controller must be withdrawn from
the housing. Squeeze the top and bottom of the front bezel between
thumb and forefinger and pull the controller firmly from the housing, see
the illustration below.
b) Set the safety switch (Loc) (3) in closed position.
c) Press the MENU button (4) for three seconds to step to the parameter
level.
d) Set the parameters, see Procedure Set Parameters.
e) Press the DECREASE button (5) once for transition to the configuration
level.

h) Set the safety switch (Loc) (3) in open position. This means that the
configuration and parameter settings are locked and not accessible for
changes.
i) Assemble the temperature controller in the housing again.
j) Before pressing STEP UP on the Bent Foil Treater, check the set-point
value on the display (2). The set-point value can be adjusted by pressing
the INCREASE and the DECREASE buttons, even if the safety switch is
open.
Note! The set-point value can never exceed the value set in the parameter
list.

Set Parameters
Set the parameters of the temperature controller according to the parameter
table.
Adjustments:
• The parameters can be adjusted by the DECREASE and the INCREASE
buttons (5) and (6).
• Transition to the next parameter is done by pressing the MENU
button (4).
• After the last configuration of a group, donE is displayed and followed
by automatic change to the next group.
• Return to the beginning of a group is done by pressing the MENU button
for 3 seconds.
• If no keypress is executed for 30 seconds., the controller returns to the

Set Configurations
Set the configurations of the temperature controller according to the
configuration table.
Adjustments:
• The configurations can be adjusted by means of the DECREASE and the
INCREASE buttons (5) and (6).
• Transition to the next configuration is by pressing the MENU button (4).
• After the last configuration of a group, donE is displayed and followed
by automatic change to the next group.
• Return to the beginning of a group is by pressing the MENU button for
3 seconds.

Error Signals
With one or several errors, the extended operating level always starts with
the error list. Signalling an actual entry in the error list (alarm, error) is done
by the Err LED in the display. To reach the error list press the MENU button
twice.

2.2.1-3 Electrical Cabinet - Reset Temperature Controller

To reset the temperature controller to default settings, do the following:

a) Set the safety switch (Loc) in closed position, see 2.2.1-2 Electrical
Cabinet - Set Temperature Controller.
b) Turn on the power supply and at the same time, press both the
DECREASE button (1) and the INCREASE button (2).
c) Press the INCREASE button to select YES.
d) Confirm the resetting by pressing the MENU/ENTER button (3).The
copy procedure is started.
e) The copy procedure will take some seconds, and then the controller
automatically restarts with default settings.
f) Set the safety switch (Loc) in open position.

a) Set the switches on the time relay (1) according to the illustration below.
The settings should be 10 seconds and mode on-delay.
b) Set the time adjuster (2) to 2 seconds.
c) Set the current control relay (3) to UNDER CURRENT and WITH
MEMORY, according to the illustration below.
d) Set the screw (4) to 30 %, and the other screws (5) to zero.
Note! If the yellow warning lamp lights and only one of the LEDs (6) lights -
check the heating elements. Change heating element if necessary, see
2.2.1-5 Electrical Cabinet - Change Heating Element. Press STEP DOWN
and then press STEP UP to restart the heating process.
