background

One of the problems in today's society is body shaming, where many people experience the
psychological impacts of being a victim. Body shaming is the act or habit of making disparaging remarks
about someone's body type, size, or outward appearance in order to stigmatize or mock them. Bachtelle
and Pepper's study from 2015 suggests that body shaming, on the other hand, may be a contributing
factor to self-harm or an epiphenomenon connected to other factors that promote self-harm. Self-harm
can have body shaming as a cause as well as a result. It's also important to keep in mind that self-harm
serves a variety of purposes and that different emotions may have different effects on different people.

II. Problem

The negative impacts of body shaming on today's generations' mental health are created by today's
society's unachievable body ideals. Some of the victims suffer from psychological concerns such as eating
disorders, anxiety, depression, and so on. That there are many people who judge another person based
on their appearance without realizing that the words they use can harm their self-esteem and negatively
impact their mental health.
