REQUEST
Đề mẫu 1:
A work colleague (or student friend) has applied for a new job, and he/she asked you
to write a reference letter to the new employer.
Write a letter to the employer to recommend your colleague/friend.
In your letter
* state your reason for writing and say how you know the applicant
* describe your colleague/friend's relevant qualifications and skills
* and explain why you are recommending this person for the job.

 Phần chào hỏi, vì bài này là viết thư cho một người mà thí sinh chưa biết
người đó là ai (new employer) của đồng nghĩa, không biết là ông hay là bà thì
thí sinh có thể dùng

 Phần giới thiệu, thí sinh nên giới thiệu mục đích thí sinh viết lá thư này là gì,
và giới thiệu bản thân của thí sinh (Sẽ trả lời câu hỏi số 1 đề cho: State your
reason for writing and say how you know thư applicant)
 Phần thân bài, đây sẽ là phần chính của bức thư, cùng là nơi thí sinh sẽ giải
quyết hai câu hỏi cuối của đề gợi ý
 Body 1: Sẽ trả lời cho câu hỏi 1 đề cho: Describe your colleague /
friend's relevant qualifications and skills
 Chỗ này vì câu hỏi đề cho chia rõ ra 2 phần là Qualifications và
thứ 2 là Skills nên viết Câu 1-2 về Qualifications, Câu 1-2 sẽ viết

 Đoạn Body 1 này nên viết tầm 3-4 câu là đủ
 Nhớ khi viết phần thân bài phải có triển khai lí do, mở rộng ý ví
dụ Helen Johnes giỏi về team building skill thì phải cho ví dụ ra
để chứng minh là nó có skill đó
 Có thể bắt đầu bằng When it comes to professional qualifications,
 Body 2: Sẽ trả lời cho câu hỏi 2 đề cho: And explain why you are
recommending this person for the job
 Câu hỏi WHY thường nên viết theo kiểu Firstly, Secondly, Lastly
thì điểm sẽ cao hơn, và bố cục bài văn cũng chắc chắn hơn.
 Nên viết 2 ý giải thích cho ý WHY - trong mỗi ý thì nhớ có giải
thích hoặc cho ví dụ chứ đừng chỉ list ý ra
  Phần kết, chữ ký: Vì đây là thư trang trọng nên thí sinh sẽ dùng Best regards
hoặc Yours faithfully
 Kết thúc thư bằng tên

2. THƯ XIN LỖI
Đề mẫu 1:
One of your friends recently had a birthday celebration, but you missed it and
you forgot to tell your friend that you couldn't attend.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,
 apologise for missing the birthday celebration
 explain why you missed it and why you didn't tell your friend
 and say what you would like to do to show that you are sorry

 Phần chào hỏi, ở đây thì đề không cho sẵn tên thì thí sinh có thể lấy tên một
người bạn bất kì của mình. Vì là bạn nên mình có thể xưng hô Dear + Tên
 Phần giới thiệu, phần này sẽ giải quyết câu hỏi số 1 của đề bài "Apologise for
missing the birthday celebration" em sẽ giới thiệu mục đích thí sinh viết lá thứ
này là vì lí do gì

 Body 1: Trả lời câu hỏi Explain why you missed it and why you didnt

  Trong đoạn Body 1 này thì nếu thí sinh đọc kĩ câu hỏi người ta
cũng đã chia sẵn làm 2 vế rồi nên mình sẽ dựa vào đó để viết
thành 2-3 câu cho đoạn Body 1
 Câu 1: sẽ trả lời cho câu hỏi Explain why you missed it, thí
sinh có thể đưa ra 1 hoặc 2 lí do, có thể diễn giải ra viết
thành 2 câu cũng được, hoặc ngắn gọn thì viết 1 câu là đủ
 Câu 2: sẽ trả lời cho câu hỏi Why you didnt tell your

TỪ "KNOW" TIẾNG ANH
 Body 2: Trả lời câu hỏi Say what you would like to do to show that you
are sorry
 Đoạn Body 2 mình có thể viết thành 2-3 câu, có thể list ra 2 việc
mình có thể làm cho bạn mình để show that you are sorry, nhớ là
phải có câu supporting idea chứ không thể đơn thuần mà làm
nha
 Phần kết, chữ ký: Vì đây là thư không trang trọng lắm nên mình có thể viết
Speak to you soon hoặc Sincerely
 Kết thúc thư bằng tên

Đề mẫu:
You have just read an article in an international travel magazine which contain some
information about your town that is incorrect
Write a letter to the editor of the magazine, in your letter
 Correct the information in the article

 Suggest what the magazine should do about this situation

 Body 2: Trả lời cho câu hỏi Suggest what the magazine should do about
this situation
 Ở Body 2 này thí sinh có thể viết 3-4 câu, đưa ra 2 suggestions
cho magazine, cũng cho ví dụ hoặc supporting idea thích hợp

You and some friends ate a meal at a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, and
you were very pleased with the food and service.
Write a letter to the restaurant manager.

 explain the reason for the celebration
 say what was good about the food and the service

câu 1 và 2 liên quan đến nhau.
 Body 2: Trả lời cho câu hỏi say what was good about the food and the
service. Đây cũng là câu hỏi quan trọng nhất của đề bài, nên thí sinh cố
gắng đầu tư vào câu trả lời này. Đề đã tách ra thành 2 ý thì thí sinh
cũng nên theo đó mà chia ra nói về food, và nói về the service.
 Phần kết, chữ ký: Vì đây là thư trang trọng nên thí sinh có thể
dùng Best regards hoặc Yours faithfully
 Kết thúc thư bằng tên

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my satisfaction and admiration
regarding the outstanding food and service we have enjoyed in
your restaurant, “La-Italiano”, last Sunday. Thank you for
making our event more special.
It was one of my friend's birthday so we decided to celebrate it
at your restaurant. We visited your restaurant on 29th July, at
around 7.30 pm, due to its convenient location and a good
reputation for delicious food. I am glad that we picked your
place.
Five of us went to your eatery and we enjoyed a traditional
Italian cousin for dinner and a special black forest cake from
your restaurant. It really did worth the money we paid because
I suppose you have hired the best chef in the town! The
service of the waiters was also marvellous. They were truly
well-mannered, organised and skilled in serving food. On top of
that, the interior design of your place is adequately stunning.
We also realised how preciously you treat your customers
when my friend got a chocolate box as a birthday gift on behalf
of your restaurant. That truly made our day.
I hope the authorities of your restaurant will always ensure
this excellent service and food to all its guests.

5. THƯ CHIA BUỒN

Đề mẫu: You play a team sport with some friends. Last week a member of the team
had an accident and wasn't able to play with you at the weekend. You decide to write
to him in hospital, telling him about the match. Write a letter to your friend. In your
letter, tell him which team won, describe the conditions on the day, say how you felt
about the match

Phần thân bài, đây là phần mà thí sinh sẽ đi trả lời 3 câu hỏi của đề, chia phần thân
bài thành 2 đoạn, tương ứng theo các câu hỏi đề đã cho
 Body 1: Trả lời cho vế "Tell him which team won", sau đó trả lời "Describe the
consitions on the day". Theo bố cục của từng câu hỏi sắp xếp bố cục của đoạn
Body 1. Có thể viết 2 câu cho đoạn này, mỗi câu sẽ trả lời 1 câu hỏi. >>

Dear Frank,
I was so sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you're feeling a lot better today and
that it's not too boring in hospital. (Expresses sympathy and asks about the reader's
health.)
The match on Saturday was disappointing. The score was 2 all, probably because you
weren't there to score that extra goal! The awful thing was that we were winning until
10 minutes before the end, when suddenly they scored another goal. I was so shocked
when I saw the ball hit the back of the net. (Tells him the score and briefly describes
how you felt about the match.)
I think the weather was to blame. It was a really wet day and the pitch was very
muddy. By the end of the game you could hardly see the grass and we were sliding
around in the mud. Everyone was exhausted. (Mentions the weather and conditions.)
Let us know when you're going home and we'll arrange for someone to bring you to
watch the next game. The rest of the team send their regards and we all wish you a
speedy recovery. (Finishes with good wishes.)

ĐỀ MẪU: A friend has written to you asking for advice about a problem at
work. You have had a similar problem in the past. Write a letter to your friend.
In your letter: tell your friend you understand the problem explain what
happened to you in the past suggest a possible solution to this problem.
Write at least 150 words.

I`m very delighted to hear from you and glad to know that you`ve already commenced
building your career as an actuarial analyst with a prestigious insurance company. In
your letter, you mentioned some issues about transitioning from student life to work
life. I`d like to share with you my experience and advice.
Actually, it's a conundrum that most graduates have to meet and tackle. I totally
understand your confusions since I also had a tough period at the beginning of my
career. You know, there won't be textbooks and lecture notes anymore, and you have
to learn everything by yourself.
Fortunately, my line manager was quite supportive and arranged a mentor to give lots
of useful guidance. I got heaps of questions and made many errors when I ran the
quantitative models. However, my mentor was always able to point out the crux of the

So, my suggestion is those regular communications with your manager and do not
hesitate to ask for help from your colleagues. Usually, one word from an experienced
