Forms of Communication

Reading
Text Messaging as a Powerful Channel to Reach Millennials

It has been estimated that 60% of millennials like to communicate with

businesses via text messaging. They think it's less invasive /in véi ziv/
than phone calls, and they also believe that texts have a more personal
touch than the other forms of communication.
Why do millennials prefer texting?
Young people prefer texts for a variety of reasons: Texts are “more
convenient”. They say texts are “less disruptive than a voice call”. In
general, young people don´t like calling on the phone.
The main reason why people prefer to send a text instead of using
another kind of communication is reliability and trust. 46 % of the
people who were interviewed said that texting is more reliable than
other messaging services and 69 % said that they would be lost
without text messaging!

However, a lot of people still prefer a good call to an instant

message... Calling someone is always more effective than
texting them. When you type a message you can't show or identify the
details that come with vocal intonation and often there are many
meanings contained in those details, whether intentional or not.
Vocabulary: invasive, it has a personal touch, more convenient,
more/less disruptive, send a text, call on the phone, more/less reliable/,
more/less effective, intentional.
