Section 1: Review (Approx 100 words)
During this course I have developed several skills that if I didn’t take this
course, I wouldn’t have learnt any other way. For example, In the first project I
did I was the editor, this role I really enjoyed, and I have developed some sort
of passion to edit, this passion for editing started as I felt like I had some
control with the documentary project but also, I felt like I could just be left
alone and do the work to a good standard. For example, the software that the
role of editor made me learn was the Premier pro software by adobe, this I
find simple to use although I do have to look some things up sometimes but
that does help my learning process with editing. For this short film I am
taking up the role of the director as it gives me a chance to direct but also to
make sure the short film fits my creative vision. The reason I want to do this
is because in the past I have had some bad experiences with groups either
not doing work or completely missing a group member.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)
For this project we are going with the idea of a horror film with some thriller
elements. Our concept is there is a teenager called Zack who is obsessed
with WW2 goes to an old WW2 fort and a bunker and starts being stalked by
this ghost of a soldier until it ends up “taking” Zack at the end of the film. My
aims for this are to have the audience that is watching it to be quite creeped
out and be left with questions, also I want to have an engaging story for
people to watch. I will make the story engaging mostly with how the character
looks as in doctor who’s empty child episode they made the monsters look
quite creepy with their gas mask, so I want to keep the audience engaged by
them being creeped out by the antagonist. Our Antagonist’s design was
inspired from the BBC series ‘Doctor who’ Empty Child Monster, we took
inspiration from him with the Gas mask which is a part of his iconic look. We
also took inspiration with the antagonist from the film ‘My Bloody Valentine’
as the antagonist for this film also wears a gas mask but he also attacks
people and he is a silent antagonists which is what we want to have in our
short film For this project we would be heavily relying on locations, this is
why I have already done some scouting and found some suitable locations
such as Brean down fort and an actual old WW2 bunker. We would have to
also rely on Costume with the antagonist as we would need an actual WW2
gas mask but also a WW2 uniform. This location would be ideal for the short
film due to the fact it is a legitimate location but also the lighting down in the
bunker is quite dark so that could help with the eeriness of the location as
well.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx 50 words)

To note down my progress and decisions I will use my Weebly Website page. On
this page it will have my research such as market research but also what inspired
me to make this film and evaluations about my film which would include things like
how well I think the project is going but also any improvements I need to make.

1 26/02/2024- On The first week we got put into our
1/03/2024 production groups for the project and
started to work on idea development by
brainstorming ideas until we found the
one which we eventually agreed upon to
do for the final project. We also made a
mood board for inspiration for the
antagonist and preexisting films
2 4/03/2024- This week we started to practice writing
8/03/2024 scripts by looking at previous examples
of scripts and then started to work on
our first draft for our idea. We also
worked on character development and
primary research for our short film
3 11/03/2024- This week we did a workshop on foley
15/03/2024 sound to practice doing foley for our
short film. I also finished doing the first
draft of the script for my short film.
4 18/03/2024- This week we worked on making a short
22/03/2024 little film where we to practice how we
are on set called don’t drink the water.
We also started working on our final
draft. Also, I am going to LA to some
film sets which will help with inspiration
5 25/03/2024- This week I will still be in LA looking at
29/03/2024 film sets on tours, but I will also start
working on the final draft for the script.
6 1/04/2024- This week I will be working on the final
5/04/2024 draft again but also start to visit
locations that we will need to film so I
can get inspired
7 8/04/2024- This week I will still be working on the
12/04/2024 final draft to make sure it is of an
excellent quality and work on my
research assignment
Resources / What you will need to

For our brainstorming we used
word just to type down our ideas
into a simple format. For our mood
boards we used Microsoft
PowerPoint to put a bunch of
images down onto the mood
board.
For our script writing we used the
software called celtx which had a
preset layout for our script.
For the foley workshop we used
the Zoom H4 audio recorders to
record the sound with the mics
and pistol grip
To shoot don’t drink the water I
needed to use the Sony X70
cameras to record it and the zoom
H4 audio recorders as well as a
dead cat mic, a pistol grip, and a
boom pole. I will also need to use
celtx to work on the final draft
