Project Title
Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Since starting my college course I had barely any experience with media and the
skills that come along with that. So starting unit 1+2 was overwhelming, but this
taught me the importance of listening and focusing as the skills I learnt doing that
unit are skills that I went onto improve further in the future these skills being:
using Adobe Premiere Pro, wix, analysis skills, evaluation skills, research skills
and time keeping skills. Although a few of these skills were skills I had already
had experience in, the start of my course helped me to improve these skills, as
did the other 5 units we did after this. These skills are skills that I’m continuing to
improve now but regardless they have improved a lot since the start of my
course. Having these skills means that I get my work done quicker with less
confusion on tasks and it also means that my work is done to a better
standard, which will help my work for my FMP be more in depth and in more
detail.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my idea is to create a thrilling horror film trailer. I will do this by
starting of with primary and secondary research, the research I will conduct will
be an analysis on 3 different horror film trailers and then I will go on to make a list
of codes and conventions for both separate things, this will support my project
as in previous units analysis of existing products and lists of codes and
conventions has helped to improve my understanding of said product which has
then led to my final piece being better. I will then conduct primary research by
making a questionnaire based on horror film trailers but also the horror genre as
a whole, this will help my final product as the opinions of others who are
interested in the horror genre will help me to improve and develop my initial ideas
further and it will also means that I can ensure my final product
reaches/impresses the target audience. To produce this product the resources I
will require are: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, dslr camera, film
camera, tripod, props, existing products, Wix and access to a computer and
Google Classroom.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
When it comes to documenting decisions/ evaluating my progress, I will type consistent
reflective diaries to document my progress and how this will help me, each lesson. I will
ensure my reflective diaries aren’t descriptive. I will also document my technical work by
making an edit decision list to document the clips and photos I decided on for my trailer
and poster.
