Section 1: Rationale (approx. 150 words)

Coming into college I was mainly skilled at editing and had very little experience in any other area
to do with media production. During my last 2 years at college, I have developed my editing skills
further and acquired other practical skills such as Camerawork and sound production. These three
skills have helped me achieve making my last projects and will greatly help my production of my
FMP. I have also Advanced in analysing media whether it is films, music videos or Radio dramas, it
has given me the chance to fully understand what makes a film successful. Study media has not
only taught me media skills but general life skills such as organisation and communication skills
from working on a tight schedule and having to call up actors for certain roles. It was key to be
organised to achieve the goals we had set out for ourselves
I plan to take the skills I have learnt at college further into University. Where I will be studying TV
and radio at Salford university. College has given me the kick start to my media career that will later
in life open opportunities for me.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My project is based around a boy who is locked inside and wishes to be out on his bike. The story
idea has correlations with covid 19 with being locked inside and not allowed going inside. I have
done this as it's something we can all relate to and is a relevant topic. It will consist of footage of
the main character a boy on his bike outside and footage of him inside doing pointless tasks. The
colour of him being inside is gonna be very dull and desaturated rather the outdoor footage is
sunny and a lot brighter. The outdoor footage will have a VHS effect on it. This is to show that it was
in the past and try to tap into the nostalgia element. I will be reviewing 3 music videos one from
every different genre of a music video. This will allow me to get a better understanding of music
videos and what makes them successful. Researching specific music video directors like Dave
Meyers will show me different techniques I could possibly use in my own project. I will be receiving
peer feedback from my pitch here I will be able to properly evaluate my project idea and see what
other people think about it.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 150 words)
Throughout the production of my FMP, I plan to reflect on the decisions I make using a production
diary. Here I can explain what I did and what lead me to that decision. I will also be able to evaluate
what happened after I made the decision and how it affected my work, whether it was a good or
bad decision. This will be useful as I can see what I could have improved on so that I can remember
what to change for next time, the same concept for what went right ill be able to see that I made
the right choice.
After I finish my project I plan to evaluate every aspect of my FMP and be able to reflect on what I
did right and what I could have improved on. Also, be able to explain if I did something differently
how it would have affected my project. I will also reflect on how it was working by myself and how
that influenced my work, both pros and cons.
