Task Title: Manage Pre-mission Training for Foreign Internal Defense (FID)
Supporting Reference(s):
Conditions: The Company receives an order to conduct a Foreign Internal Defense (FID) mission in support of national objectives. The Company
has received the mission order, and has access to all relevant documents to include (but not limited to) regulations, standing operating procedures (
SOPs), doctrinal manuals, training circulars, and technical manuals. International treaties, agreements, laws, and regulations pertaining to the area are
also available. The legal status of United States (U.S.) forces in the area of operations (AO) has been determined. The U.S. Country Team and U.S.
Ambassador may or may not be in country. Foreign nation agreements may or may not be available. The Company receives guidance on the rules of
engagement (ROE). The deploying Company may be comprised of both ARSOF and conventional forces (personnel). Additional ARSOF attachments
such as Special Force, PSYOP, and Civil Affairs may be available. The mission may be conducted in all Operational Environments, and the Operational
Environment may change with little to no notice. The unit has an established period to conduct its premission training. Some iterations of this task should
be performed in MOPP 4.
Standards: The company conducts pre-mission training in accordance with ATP 3-05.2, JP 3-22, USSOCOM DIR 350-35, and unit SOPs. The c
ompany conducts premission training within the time identified by higher headquarters orders, addressing the requirements of the combatant c
ommander's or Theater Special Operations Command's (TSOC) Initial Terms of Reference (ITR), and Terms of Reference (TOR).
Leaders: Leaders should include: Company Commander, Company Executive Officer or Warrant Officer, First Sergeant/Company Sergeant Major,
Detachment Commanders or Platoon Leaders, and Team or Platoon Sergeants (as applicable).

Task Statements
Cue: The Company receives an order to conduct a Foreign Internal Defense (FID) mission in support of national objectives.
DANGER
Potential for death or permanent injury exists in the conduct of this task. Commanders and leaders at all levels
need to be cognizant of the risks involved in this task and take appropriate measures to alleviate or minimize
the danger to Soldiers.
WARNING
Risk management is the Army’s primary decision-making process to identify hazards, reduce risk, and prevent
both accidental and tactical loss. All Soldiers have the responsibility to learn and understand the risks.
CAUTION
Identifying hazards and controlling risks across the full spectrum of Army functions, operations, and activities

Always be alert to ways to protect our environment during training and missions. In doing so, you will contribute to the sustainment of our training
resources while protecting people and the environment from harmful effects. Refer to the current Environmental Considerations manual and the current
GTA Environmental-related Risk Assessment card. Environmental protection is not just the law but the right thing to do. It is a continual process and
starts with deliberate planning. Always be alert to ways to protect our environment during training and missions. In doing so, you will contribute to the
sustainment of our training resources while protecting people and the environment from harmful effects. Refer to FM 3-34.5, Environmental
Considerations, and GTA 05-08-002, Environmental-Related Risk Assessment.
Safety: In a training environment, leaders must perform a risk assessment in accordance with current Risk Management Doctrine. Leaders will

complete the current Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheet in accordance with the TRADOC Safety Officer during the planning and completion of each
task and sub-task by assessing mission, enemy, terrain and weather, troops and support available-time available and civil considerations, (METT-TC).
Note: During MOPP training, leaders must ensure personnel are monitored for potential heat injury. Local policies and procedures must be followed
during times of increased heat category in order to avoid heat related injury. Consider the MOPP work/rest cycles and water replacement guidelines IAW
current CBRN doctrine. In a training environment, leaders must perform a risk assessment according to current Risk Management Doctrine. Leaders will
complete the current Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheet according to the TRADOC Safety Officer during the planning and completion of each task
and sub-task by assessing mission, enemy, terrain and weather, troops, and support available, time available, civil considerations, and informational
considerations (METT-TC[I]). Note: During MOPP training, leaders must ensure personnel are monitored for potential heat injury. Local policies and
