- Prerequisite courses: none
- Pre-study module: Have basic knowledge of Vietnamese history, culture
and society and have the skills to analyze and evaluate a problem or a socio-
cultural phenomenon.
1.4. Training program: Higher Education
1.5. Number of credits: 2
1.7. Requirements for the module: Projector, microphone, whiteboard, marker.
2. Summary of module content
The module provides learners with basic knowledge about Cultural Studies,
including the following issues:
- General theory of culture: courtesy forms culture and civilization; concept,
structure and characteristics of culture.
- General theory of cultural studies: history of cultural formation; Research objects
and methods of cultural studies.
- Practical knowledge: includes knowledge about basic cultural elements of
Vietnam: cognitive culture, organizational culture, behavioral culture.

3. Module objectives

3.1. Professional capacity


- Identify and initially visualize the rules of cultural formation and change.
- Arrange and classify acquired knowledge into a system.
- Understand clearly the characteristics of Vietnamese culture, distinguish national
culture from the culture of other countries of the same culture.

3.2. Professional capacity


- Reasonable and objective assessment of the meaning and role of culture in real
life.
- Ability to apply knowledge for each specific case into professional practice.
- Apply cultural understanding as a theoretical basis to clarify an issue of
Vietnamese culture.
- Have a serious attitude and awareness of national cultural identity as well as a
spirit of respect for differences in recognizing and evaluating other cultures.
