1. What do you observe first with the picture?

➢ What I’ve observed in the first picture is the Filipino teachers were under appreciated during
the American period. Where they experienced being discriminated and has a low income compared
to the American teachers even though they have same qualifications or better than the old American
educators

2. What is the title of the cartoon?

➢ “Equal work, unequal salary, why?”

3. List the people, objects, and places in the cartoon.

4. List the actions or activities.

➢ The Filipino teacher shows how hard it was to be a Filipino teacher during the american
period. While on the other hand the American teacher is smiling and smoking a tabacco and he’s
priviledged with the salary that he got because he is an American teacher.

5. Which of the visuals are symbols of meanings?

➢ The Weighing scale of both Filipino and American teachers were they hold different
heaviness. In the Filipino teacher they were underpaid while teaching. The American teacher has a
lot of income which money holds the heaviness which is opposite to the Filipino teacher.

Direction: Find a political cartoon and cut it. Paste it on the box. Present the elements in the picture
like what you did above ( title, people/actions/places, visuals). State the purpose why
the author depicts such scenario of the condition it is describing.
