Ladies and gentlemen, warm greetings from Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana!

Welcome to the International Conference on Mathematics and Physics (IconMaP) 2023!

We are so grateful that finally we could conduct the IConMaP in hybrid mode, after the terrible yet
impactful pandemic. IConMaP is an integrated part of the 5th International Conference on Science and
Science Education (IConSSE), a sequence of biennial international workshops organized by Faculty of
Science and Mathematics (FSM), Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW). This year Faculty of
Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) join as co-hosts. The IConMaP 2023 talks and discussion focus
on “The Significant Involvement of Mathematics and Physics in the VUCA World” in which VUCA
stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity. It shares key issues in educational
challenges and emerging trends within the education system on mathematics, physics, mathematics
education, and physics education to face the unpredictable force of change over the post-pandemic era
and rapid advances in technology. Education has to adopt a learning culture and life-connected learning
by implementing the decision making process, innovation, and creativity, searching for opportunities,
and contextual thinking to meet all the requirements according to global competence and trends, without
forgetting the aim of education itself.

IConMaP is marked as a part of the scheme to achieve Strategic Performance Indicators (IKS) in terms
of increasing the number of publications of scientific articles at the international level and enhancing
the number of international partnerships as well.

We hope that this conference could be a wonderful place to share the main role and challenges of
mathematics, physics, mathematics education, and physics education in the VUCA World; to give
insight how science teachers, researchers, and practician can survive in the VUCA world; to share
experiences, new skills, approaches, and behaviors to manage ubiquitous and global events; and to
establish relationships and connections related to education among the participants, which is addressed
effectively in an adaptation turbulent environment. May we enjoy an academic fellowship of profound
insights, visionary thinking, and long last networking that deeply resonate and inspire all of us here.

who have dedicated their time and expertise to make this conference a reality. Your contributions are
the bedrock upon which we build our collective understanding, and we are indebted to your commitment
to the pursuit of knowledge. Furthermore, we would like to acknowledge our deepest gratitude to rector
