Title: Effectiveness of the anti-inflammatory properties of avocado (Persea American )

on the markers of inflammation in the body of Cantilan National High School Grade 9
Students.

INTRODUCTION
Avocado ( Persie Americana ) has been suggested to have anti- inflammatory
properties and may help reduce inflammation markers in the body. Avocado recently
gained substantial popularity and is often marketed as a " superfood", it means that it is
especially good for human health, due to high vitamin, antioxidant or dietary fiber content ( Deep
Jyoti Bhuyan. 2023) . Avocado has gained recognition for its potential antibacterial properties,
which can play a role in promoting good health and preventing bacterial infections. This fruit
contains a variety of bioactive compounds that have been shown to possess antimicrobial activity
against a broad spectrum of bacteria ( Danxia Shi ,2023 ).

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in natural remedies for
inflammation, as chronic inflammation has been associated with various health conditions. This
has prompted researchers to investigate the potential of combining avocado oil and seeds as
markers for reducing inflammation in the body. Researchers have begun to investigate the anti-
inflammatory properties of avocado oil and seeds, particularly when used in combination.
Studies have demonstrated that the bioactive compounds found in avocado oil and seeds,
including omega-3 fatty acids and phytosterols, have the ability to decrease inflammation and
regulate the immune response. By examining the effects of combining avocado oil and seeds, it
can gain a deeper understanding of their synergistic effects and their potential as natural agents
for reducing inflammation.
An extract from the seeds of avocados exhibited anti-inflammatory properties in a
laboratory study according to researchers, and it represents a potential source for novel anti-
inflammatory compounds that could be developed as a functional food ingredient or
pharmaceuticals. (Penn state ,2019). The focus of this study about the effectiveness of potential
anti-inflammatory properties of avocado and on markers of inflammation in the body is to
investigate the role of avocado in reducing inflammation and its impact on various markers of
inflammation.

In a study by Lopez et al. (2018) conducted in Spain, the effects of avocado

consumption on inflammatory markers were evaluated. Participants who consumed
avocado daily for four weeks experienced a significant reduction in the levels of
interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), both of which
are indicators of inflammation. These findings suggest that avocado may have anti-
inflammatory effects.
A study by Wang et al. (2019) conducted in China examined the impact of avocado
extract on inflammation markers in obese individuals. The results showed that
participants who received avocado extract supplementation for eight weeks exhibited a
significant decrease in the levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6),
indicating a reduction in systemic inflammation. This study suggests that avocado extract
may have potential anti-inflammatory properties in obese individuals.

A study by Dreher et al. (2019) conducted in the United States explored the
potential anti-inflammatory effects of avocado oil. The study found that participants who
consumed avocado oil for four weeks experienced a significant decrease in the levels of
pro-inflammatory markers, including IL-6 and TNF-alpha. These findings indicate that
avocado oil may possess anti-inflammatory properties and could be beneficial in reducing
inflammation in the body.

In conclusion, the foreign literature reviewed here provides evidence

supporting the potential anti-inflammatory properties of avocado. Studies conducted in
various regions show that avocado consumption or supplementation may lead to a
reduction in inflammation markers, including IL-1β, TNF-alpha, CRP, IL-6, hs-CRP, IL-
