ACTIVITY PROPOSAL
“ART THERAPY”
I hope this letter finds you well. As a level three nursing student who is now having our
psychiatric ward exposure here in Center for Behavioral Science - VSMMC and believes in the
therapeutic benefits of art, We are writing to propose the implementation of an art activity
within the psychiatric ward. We firmly believe that integrating creative endeavors into our
patients' treatment plans can foster healing, self-expression, and overall well-being.
Art therapy is another effective method for individuals facing various mental health
challenges. Through this, patients can explore their emotions, communicate their thoughts, and
develop coping strategies in a safe and supportive environment. To implement this initiative, We
are humbly asking for your approval to allow us to facilitate this activity this coming April 17,
2024, around 10 am.
Your acceptance of this initiative is highly appreciated, and we are hoping for a positive
response.
Truly yours,
ACTIVITY OUTLINE
During the art activity session, patients in the psychiatric ward will engage in a guided painting/
coloring activity aimed at fostering self-expression and emotional release. After a brief
introduction to the session's objectives, participants will be provided with bond paper and
coloring materials. Throughout the activity, the facilitator will offer gentle guidance and
support, creating a non-judgmental space for patients to explore their feelings through art. The
session will conclude with a group reflection, allowing participants to share their experiences
and insights gained from the creative process.
