Title: Forging Success: A Case Study of A4 Fabricated Wire Manufacturing – Navigating

Challenges, Crafting Strategies, and Extracting Lessons for Industry Excellence

Background:

A4 Fabricated Wire Manufacturing stands out as one of the premier companies in the
municipality of Concepcion offering a diverse range of fabricated wire products. The company
takes pride in supporting the local community by exclusively hiring the residents of San Juan
Concepcion Tarlac, thereby providing them with valuable employment opportunities. The rapid
development of technology, government policies, and requirements are just a few challenges the
company is facing to keep up with today’s market trends. Additionally, the handling of its people
also contributes to the struggle the company faces in maintaining productivity and
maintainability.

Brief History:

A4 Fabricated Wire Manufacturing is a subsidiary of ARLAM Industries, founded 40 years ago

by Armando Lampa Sr., whose son, Armando Lampa Jr., now owns A4 Fabricated Wire
Manufacturing. Both companies have established a reputation for delivering high-quality
manufacturing products to SM Malls and various locations in Regions 1 and 3, including La
Union, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Bataan. In 2017, Mr. Armando Lampa Jr. ventured to
establish his own company, A4 Fabricated Wire Manufacturing, with the full support of his
father. Situated in San Juan Concepcion, Tarlac, the company specializes in producing fabricated
wire products for the aforementioned municipalities, including cages and kitchenware.
Additionally, they undertake special projects tailored to the preferences of their clients.

Less Profit and High Expense: Another pivotal lesson derived from the global pandemic
was learning to enhance the company’s profitability while simultaneously reducing expenses
both during and post-pandemic. A significant challenge arose in determining how to cut costs
without compromising product quality and maintain financial resiliency. According to the owner,
he also struggle in avoiding expenses formulgated by the government like business permits and
requirements or “Red Tape”; Undocumented expenses like parking fees, extortion or “kotong” in
tagalog and Truck Delivery Maintenance.

Employee Management and Absenteeism Rate: Addressing unplanned absences, boosting

production and employee motivation. The company struggles with minimizing employee
absences particularly under it’s ‘no work no pay’ policy. It also grapples with boosting its
production as employees only earn the same amount of salary with the same amount of work.

Strategies and Solution:

Technological Advancement: The company has identified that the online selling format would
widen its pool of buyers. It will also increase the possibility of earning high profits by increasing
the number of sales. He also identifies that some products sold online possess a different quality
compared to their output.

Lower Overhead and Compress Delivery Expenses: The company has recognized that it can
maintain its profitability by reducing overhead costs and streamlining delivery expenses.
Through careful analysis, the owner determined that the same output can be achieved with fewer
workers.

Employee Engagement and identifying the root cause of absenteeism: The owner conducted
an analysis of employee behavior, particularly focusing on the root causes of absenteeism.
Additionally, he recognizes the importance of nurturing positive relationships with employees to
ensure their motivation and commitment to their roles.

Technological Advancement: The company has begun to analyze the dynamics of online selling
formats and consistently evaluates the quality of products through customer reviews and
suggestions. A4 now intends to promote its products through the creation of its website and
leveraging social media platforms for sales

Lower Overhead and Compress Delivery Expenses:

(a) The owner strategizes to lowering overhead by reducing the cost of labor or laborer. This
is a big help in reducing their expenses because it reduces the cost of labor but produces
the same amount of output.
(b) The owner has also devised a strategy to optimize product delivery by transitioning from
individual shipments to bulk deliveries. By increasing the number of daily deliveries
from one to three, the company aims to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in utilizing
delivery expenses and time
(c) When addressing government regulations and permit costs, specifically “Red Tape”, the
company remains committed to complying with these requirements, acknowledging the
importance of adherence to regulations. Embracing the principle that rules are meant to
be followed, the company plans to fulfill these obligations accordingly

Employee Management – Maximum Tolerance: The owner is well-versed in labor

regulations concerning absences. While he could opt for the due process and issue warnings
progressively, he prefers to exercise maximum tolerance. His approach is to support employees
through training, fostering positive relationships, while also establishing clear boundaries and
addressing any differences, all with the aim of promoting a familial work environment.

Results:

Online Market Awareness is steadily advancing towards its ultimate goal: The company has set a
clear and ambitious objective to expand its market reach, targeting not only existing customers
but also attracting new ones. With this strategic focus, the company is poised to achieve its
ultimate goal of significant growth in the coming years.

Increase profitability and reduced expenses: Streamlining delivery and reducing overhead costs
has greatly contributed to the company’s success, maintaining high profits while lowering

expenses. This efficiency has enabled the company to sustain competitive employee salaries and
cover essential operational expenses, ensuring the smooth running of the business.

Strengthening the employee-employer bond fuels success: By exercising maximum tolerance,

the employee demonstrated remarkable dedication and consistently reported to work each day.
This commitment not only enhanced their motivation but also significantly improved
productivity and the company’s ability to meet the required daily delivery, benefiting from
having a fully staffed team available every day.

Conclusion:

According to Mr. Armando Lampa Jr., owner of A4 Fabricated Wire Manufacturing, the global
pandemic served as a valuable lesson rather than a mere challenge. It taught him to confront
obstacles head-on, strategize effectively, and execute action plans to address underlying issues
while providing viable solutions. Consistently implementing these solutions and strategies
strengthened the relationship between him and his employees, increased profitability without
sacrificing expenses, and facilitated adaptation to innovations and changes, particularly in the
online market. A4 is now well-prepared to compete and remains firm in its commitment to
staying ahead of evolving market trends. He also pledged to maintain his drive for continuous
improvement within his company, ensuring that his employees are motivated to pursue
excellence beyond just seeking profits.
