DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
A. Nature and function (See figure 1)
The rotary actuator is an intermittent duty electromechanical
equipment having the following purpose :
- In operation : to provide, through the drive shaft, a
complete angular travel to mobile component (such as cock,
valve) in order to place this component in a work position
corresponding to the end of travel "0" (Open) or "F"
(Closed).
- In the rest position : to stop the controlled equipment in
the selected position.
It is irreversible, which means that any rotaring force
applied on the drive shaft, in one direction or the other,
has no displacement effect, in the rest position as well as
in operation, as long as it remains within the maximum safe
load limits.
B. Physical characteristics
- Overall dimensions (See figure 2).

- Weight : 0.357 kg + 2 % (.787 lb).

- Travel identification :
On cover and housing ends, the letters "0" and "F" and the
mark points are painted in yellow.
The groove of the position index, behind the sight window
on cover end is painted in red.

3. Operation
The operation order is the following :
- Operation control.
- Opening or closing travel.
- End of travel on electrical stop.
- End of travel on mechanical stop.
A. Electrical operation (See figure 7)
Figure 7 shows the schematic and functional diagram of the
actuator, connected to a typical operating installation, in
each controlled or automatic switching phase.
(1) Opening operation
The actuator is at rest in the closed position (phase 6),
the operation is controlled by (S3) on 1 (phase 1) to
energize the motor (Ml) through the inductor (Ll) and to
cut off the indicator light circuit (DS2).
At the beginning of the travel, (S2) automatically tilts
on "NO " (phase 2) to energize the inductor (L2) circuit.
At the end of the travel on electrical stop, (Sl) auto-
matically tilts on "NC" (phase 3) which causes motor
circuit cut off and energization of the indicator light
(DSL).

(2) Closing operation

The actuator is at rest in the open position (phase 3),
the operation is controlled by (S3) on 2 (phase 4) to
energize the motor (Ml) through the inductor (L2) and to
cut off the indicator light (DSl) circuit.
At the beginning of the travel, (Sl) automatically tilts
on 11NOtt (phase 5) to energize the inductor (Ll) circuit.
At the end of travel on electrical stop, (S2) automati-
cally tilts on "NC" (phase 6) which causes motor circuit
cut off and energization of the indicator light (DS2).
B. Mechanical operation
During the opening or closing travel, the motor (Xl) drives
the reduction gearbox, the Autoloc device (automatically
locked) and the drive shaft.
At the end of travel on mechanical stop, the Autoloc device
is automatically unlocked which frees the drive shaft and
enables the reduction gearbox to absorb without shock the
motor inertia.
