During my four years at WSSU, I have faced many obstacles and grown both personally
and academically. The COVID-19 epidemic presented me as a student with many difficulties,
forcing an abrupt switch to online education. It was first difficult for me to get used to this new
structure, especially because I had to juggle how to operate not only in new education set up by
as well the world as it was going through a crazy pandemic. But I persisted and discovered how
to efficiently manage my time, making use of online tools, and maintaining contact with
instructors to make sure I completed my coursework on time.
My academic standing in my first two years of college was one of the main obstacles I
had to overcome. My grades showed that I had difficulty keeping up a high GPA. I committed to
improving my study habits and obtaining academic help after realizing that I needed to do better.
I became more involved in class, asked for help when I needed it, and improved my study habits.
I was able to considerably raise my academic performance and grades as a consequence of these
efforts, which led to my being selected to the Dean's List three times in the previous two years.
My academic and professional development has been greatly influenced by the WSSU
Sport Management program. My knowledge of the sports sector has grown significantly as a
result of the program's wide instruction, which covers subjects like sports marketing, event
planning, and sports legislation. I have acquired real-world knowledge and industry insights
though practical projects, internships, and class debates, preparing me for a career in sports
management. In addition, the program's focus on real-world examples and has improved my
problem-solving and critical thinking skills by allowing me to apply theoretical principles to
real-world scenarios.
My time I at WSSU has also been shaped by worthwhile experiences outside of the
classroom in addition to my academic and personal development. I was able to apply what I had
learned in the classroom to real-world scenarios while working as an intern in the WSSU Athletic
Department, which gave me valuable experience and insights into the field. My knowledge in
sports administration was enhanced by working on graphics, running the digital board during
basketball games, and helping with notable events such as the CIAA basketball championship
and indoor track and field competitions. These experiences helped me acquire important
professional skills like problem-solving, cooperation, and communication in addition to
enhancing my schoolwork and learning.

As I reflect on my time at WSSU, I am pleased with the personal and academic progress I
have made. I have conquered obstacles, advanced intellectually, and developed both personally
and professionally thanks to my perseverance, hard effort, and peers' and faculty's
encouragement. In addition to preparing me for the real world, my time at WSSU gave me a
drive for study and self-improvement that will last a lifetime. I'm sure that the knowledge and
skills I picked up at WSSU will provide me a strong base for success as I start this next phase of
my journey.
