Final size of the rattle with the recommended materials and tools ~ 14 cm/5.51”.
Use any materials and tools you like, but the final size of your toy may differ.

Scheepjes Catona 100% mercerized cotton yarn (Light silver) #172 50g/125m
Scheepjes Catona 100% mercerized cotton yarn (Metal grey) #242 10g/25m

Scheepjes Catona 100% mercerized cotton yarn (Sky blue) #510 10g/25m
2 mm crochet hook (US B)
6 cm / 2.36 inches diameter wooden teething ring
9 mm / 0.35 inches safety eyes
Rattle insert (optional), as for me I use flat rattle insert 32 mm
Fiberfill for stuffing
Tapestry needle and scissors
Black and white embroidery thread Skill level: beginner-intermediate

Suggested substitute yarn:
Abbreviations: “Alize Bahar”
Fine weight yarn. “Alpina Anabel”

ch = chain stitch System (SPORT, BABY). “Schachenmayr Catania”
sc = single crochet I used Sport (5 ply) cotton yarn. “Phildar Phil Cotton 3”
slst = slip stitch

inc = increase (2 single crochets in one stitch)

dec = invisible decrease (2 stitches together working on front loops only)

Start with foundation chain.
Rnd 1. ch 6 [6]
Start in 2nd chain from the hook: 5 sc in the same chain, 3 sc into the
next 3 chains, 5 sc into the last chain, (turn the crocheting and on
the other side of foundation chain work) 3 sc [16]
Crochet in continuous spirals!
Rnd 2. 1 sc, 3 sc into the same stitch, 1 sc, 3 sc into the same stitch,
5 sc, 3 sc into the same stitch, 1 sc, 3 sc into the same stitch, 4 sc [24]
Rnd 3. 2 sc, 3 sc into the same stitch, 3 sc, 3 sc into the same stitch, 5 6

Rnds 8-18. 56 [56] – 11 rounds
Insert eyes between Rounds 14 and 15 (symmetrically to the upper
corners), with the distance 11 stitches between them Images 9, 10.
Crochet 1 sc Image 11 (this stitch helps to make more symmetrical
lower corners of the head). Move here the marker, this will be the
beginning of all following rounds.

Rnd 19. BLO: 5 sc, sc3tog (in this round regular triple decrease XWavHIXLE

Stuff the head firmly with filler! Insert small amounts at a time until
you get the right shape. Take your time with this step.
Insert the rattle box. I use flat rattle box and insert it vertically, it
helps to stuff the head easily from all sides Image 17!

opening by going across the

Attach the yarn (Sky blue) #510 to the Round 3 where we
completed the stitches in Back Loop Only (BLO) Image 27. Insert
your hook into the Front Loop of the first stitch of round 3 and work
slst. Continue to slst around Image 29.
Finish the round in an invisible way!
To make this: Pull the end of the yarn through the last stitch
completely. Thread the end of yarn through the needle. Skip one
stitch and guide the yarn into the next stitch as shown on Image 30. 32 33

Insert the needle back in the same hole where the yarn comes from

finished, weave in the yarn inside the ear.
Body part:

Start with foundation chain. Note that you may need to increase or decrease the number of rows to match your

Working in rounds. Using Scheepjes Catona (Bridal white) #105. Before making MAGIC RING, leave a thread about 20 cm long. With its help we will sew the collar!

Take the same yarn we crocheted the head and long

2, insert the needle in the point 3, pull out from point

Using Scheepjes Catona (Metal grey) #242 embroider the nose. Work 3-4 horizontal stitches between the eyes 1 sc wide Images 51,52. Weave in the yarn end.

Using 6 strands of white embroidery floss embroider 53 54

Using 2 strands of black embroidery thread embroider

the brows on the Round 10 as shown on the Image 54!

Using Scheepjes Catona (Sky blue) #510 embroider the

Sew antenna to the head`s top, for sewing insert needle in the back loops Image 58! Stuff the bottom slightly before finishing. Weave in the ends.
