PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES OF PERSONALITY

Personality has characteristics or

attributes. These are the
external attributes and the inner
ones
BOARD
EXTERNAL ATTRIBUTES

•PHYSICAL HEALTH AND

HYGIENE
• Physical hygiene is the maintenance of
personal cleanliness and sanitation of the
body
• Exercise or physical health programs can be
in the form of aerobics, “dancercise”, brisk
walking, yoga and sports. We have 600
muscles which when not frequently used
become sluggish. Exercise control the fatty
deposits of cholesterol on the wall of blood
vessels
SELF EFFICACY+ SELF RESPECT = SELF BOARD

ESTEEM
•A sense of esteem or worthiness
gives a person the confidence to
take risk and so she/he is able to
help other persons. Her/his effort
gives additional experience and
insights about herself and her
capacity. She develops a sense of
well being or respect for herself.

INTERPERSONAL ATTRACTION
Before one can develop a friendship, there
must be an opportunity to interact within
other’s persons. Physical proximity is important
in friendship. Living or working near someone is
likely to produce interaction. Another factor is
the frequency of interaction, if one interacts
more frequently with others; it is more likely
that friendship will develop although frequent
interaction does not guarantee liking. It is a
starting point. Physical proximity and
interpersonal contacts produces is a required
condition for interpersonal attraction

• Primary sex characteristics (or body
structures directly concerned with
reproduction) that allows us to tell
males from females, such as the penis
in men and the vagina in women.

features that appear during puberty in
humans. These secondary
characteristics are features such as
pubic hair, breast development in
females, and beards in males.

EROGENOUS ZONE
One of the truly original ideas that
Freud created in describing
personality is that of erogenous
zones. Sometimes called erotic zones.
An erogenous zones that any part of
man’s body where the inner and the
outer in meet, an area which may
have the potential when manipulated
of arousing pleasant and sensual
feelings. These feelings may be there
inborn or developed later in life
BOARD
LOVE STAGES
This concept would differentiate love from
passion (an emotional state so strong as to
overrule good judgment) or infatuation (a
short erotic attraction which contains no
reciprocity). Probably the closest term to
describe what we mean is the Greek word
agape, which connotes that love goes
between people
• AGAPE- UNCONDITIONAL LOVE (GOD’S
LOVE)
• PHILIA- BROTHERLY/ FRIENDLY
• EROS- Romantic Love
• STORGE- EMPATHY BOND

KINDS OF LOVE
SELF LOVE
When the infant is born, he
knows only one thing: himself.
Since we may assume that he is
not yet concerned with
abstractions about himself. He
can deal only with the concrete.
BOARD
KINDS OF LOVE
PARENTAL LOVE
The second strongest and longest
lasting love stage is related to
parent or parents. This would seem
to be an excellent place to
introduce the concept of Oedipus
complex and its concomitant
operational devices of penis envy
and castration complex

KINDS OF LOVE
FICTIONAL LOVE
As the child’s mental capacity and concurrent
fantasy life increases, he becomes more
aware of the wonderful world of fictional
heroes and what they can do for him. He falls
in love, then, with fictional figures- be they
relationships or characters from plays, books,
film, television. Having fictional love is lasting
behavioral pattern. We carry permanently
some images of these personality forms
which help us to live in fantasy what we
cannot live in reality

KINDS OF LOVE
HOMOSEXUAL LOVE
• As the child progresses through the oral, anal
and phallic stage, he is developing a love for
self by means of his body. ANIMUS- MUSCULINE
• According to Freud, basic to all humans is
inborn bisexuality. All males have some
characteristics of the female; all the females ANIMA- FEMININE
have some characteristics of male. Current
endocrine and biochemical research indicates
the presence of androgens and estrogens in
every human. Coupling this fact with the
similarity in sexual in no way be interpreted at
this age level with any perversion whatsoever.
