Today in the world of work, the number of available jobs is scarce especially this
time of pandemic, and the Department of Education is revitalizing its resources to lead
the students and prepare them skillfully as future chefs.

Due to scarcity of job. I am planning to open a carinderia here in Puerto Princesa


City. That’s why we need to study the Personal Entrepreneurial Compentencies and
Skills Needed in Food Processing on how to start a business.

It is the person’s total or overall characteristics that drive him/her to become


successful entrepreneur refers to ones Personal entrepreneurial Competencies
(PECs). Aspiring entrepreneur must have the three clusters of PECs to ensure
Win-Win venture.
In this module, you will learn more about entrepreneurship and the
entrepreneurial competencies related to Food (Fish) Processing.
Below are the important Personal Entreneurial Competencies (PECs) of an
entrepreneur that are grouped into three clusters:
Achievement Cluster-these PECS is related to the success of one’s business goals
 Initiative- an entrepreneur takes the personal responsibility for the failure or
success of the business.
 Commitment- is feeling dedication and loyalty to a cause, activity, or job,
wholeheartedly dedicated.
 Persistence- continuing firmly or obstinately in a course of action in spite of
difficult or opposition.
 Risk taking- a person who is willing to do things that involve danger or risk in
order to achieve a goal.

 Creativity- an entrepreneur should be creative and innovative to stay in
business and in order to have an edge over the competition.

Planning Cluster- these clusters talks about the objectives and goal setting as well as
planning activities abilities of an entrepreneur that will sure lead to the success of the
business.
 Profit-Oriented: An entrepreneur enters into business to generate profit or
additional income. Therefore, an entrepreneur must see to it that the business
becomes profitable.
 Goal Setter- one with clear vision, and mission of setting particular objectives
and goals that is reasonably high, realistic and attainable through his/her
means of different resources.
 Data Gathering- gathering of important informations from researches to obtain
relevant data that he/she can use for the success of his/her business.
 Systematic planning and monitoring- successful entrepreneur conducts
personal monitoring of the plans them layed out for keeping track of the daily
ioperation of the business. Making sure that the business is performing as
desired as planned.
Power Cluster – these are the other personal entrepreneurial competencies that
shows ability and power to influence others ensuring to attain the planned goals and
objectives of the business.
 Hardworking is something or someone that is diligent in labouring and that
puts effort into doing and completing tasks.
 Self-confident is to be secure in yourself and your abilities.
 Disciplined: is the practice of making people obey rules or standards of
behaviour and punishing them when they do not.
 Able to accept change is accepting it and moving on-when change happens, it
feels like you are missing something.
 Willing to listen describe someone who has full attention to others, specically
in business matters.
Listed below are the important skills of a successful entrepreneur.
1. Planning -Planning is a strategic thinking and setting of goals to achieve
objectives by carefully maximizing all the available resources? A good
entrepreneur develops and applies step-by-step plans to realize goals.
2. People Skills -This is very important in order to be successful in any kind of
business. Possessing people skills refers to the entrepreneurs’ ability to
effectively and efficiently communicate and relate to people working within and
outside of your business.
3. Decision Making Successful entrepreneurs have the ability to think quickly and
make wise decision towards pre-determined objectives. No one can deny that
the ability to make decisions is an important skill that an entrepreneur should
possess.
