Percent
Indicates the number of parts
taken from a hundred. It can
be written as either one word
or two words. The symbol %
is used to express percent.
Percent must first be
expressed either as a fraction
or as decimal.
Changing Percent to Decimals

To change percent to
decimal, drop the percent
sign and move the decimal
point two places to the left. If
the fractional unit, the
fraction is first changed to
decimal, then drop the %
sign and move the decimal
point two places to the left.
Example
1) 15% 15 .15
2) 005% 005 0.05
3) 25% 25 .25
4) 7.5% 7.5 .075

Changing Decimals to Percent

To change decimal to
percent, move the
decimal point two
places to the right
and add or affix the
percent symbol.
Example

Changing Percent to Fraction

To change percent to
fraction, drop the
percent sign, replace
with the denominator
of 100 and reduce to
lowest term.
