1. Hardware components of a conventional PC and their respective function/s

(AVR) Voltage regulator or stabilizer


- stabilises the mains power supply
voltage to a load

COMPUTER CASE
- the outer shell of a computer.
- It contains the main components of
the computer, including the
motherboard, central processing unit
(CPU), and power supply.

PRINTER
- device that accepts text and graphic
output from a computer and transfers
the information to paper.

SCANNER
- a device that captures images from
photographic prints, posters,
magazine pages and similar sources
for computer editing and display.

MONITOR
- an output device that displays
information in pictorial or text form.
- Usually comprises a visual display,
some circuitry, a casing, and a power
supply.

2. Essential contents of the SYSTEM UNIT and their respective function/s

CPU COOLER
- Dissipate heat produced by the
processor that sits at the heart of your
PC.

HARD DRIVE
- Stores all of your digital content.
- Documents, pictures, music, videos,
programs, application preferences,
and operating system represent digital
content stored on a hard drive.

SOUND CARD
- As a synthesizer (generating sounds)
- As a MIDI interface, analog-to-digital
conversion (used, for example, in
recording sound from a microphone)

sound for a speaker).
MOTHERBOARD
- .as a single platform to connect all of
the parts of a computer together.
- Connects the CPU, memory, hard
drives, optical drives, video card,

RANDOM-ACCESS MEMORY(RAM)
- Short term memory where data is
stored as the processor needs it.
- Computer main memory in which
specific contents can be accessed
(read or written) directly by the central
processing unit in a very short time

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)


- designing and developing computer
processors and graphics technologies

Power supply unit (PSU)


- converts mains AC to low-voltage
regulated DC power for the internal
components of a computer.
- Is a hardware component of a
computer that supplies all other
components with power.

CD DRIVE
- A drive that reads a compact disc and
that is connected to an audio system.

SATA POWER CABLE


- Connect the hard disk to the motherboard.
- Common use is for connecting the hard drive,

computer's motherboard.
