I. Objectives
At the end of 45 minutes’ discussion, the students are expected to:
a. identify the various ways to access information stored in a computer;
b. create a file using MS Word in the computer; and
c. demonstrate an understanding of accessing information stored in
computer through actual operation.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Ways to Access Information Stored in a Computer
References: TLE CSS Module
Materials: Laptop, videos, and PPT
Values Integration: Develop a deep appreciation to the use of ICT tools
III. Procedures
A. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
The teacher asks one student to lead a prayer.
 Greetings
The teacher greets the students.
 Checking of attendance
The teacher checks and records the attendance of the
students.
 Review
The teacher asks the class about the previous lesson, and
what they have learned.

 Motivation
The teacher posts pictures on the board, and ask random
students to describe it.
B. Lesson Proper
A. Activity
The teacher asks the students to create a file using MS Word.
Analysis
The teacher asks random students to answer the following questions:
1. What are the processes in saving a file?
2. How do you access your file after you save it?
B. Abstraction
The teacher discusses the ways to access information stored in a
computer.
Method 1.
Manually locate the file. This method is applicable whether your file is
stored in a hard disk, flash drive, network drive, CD/DVD, or portable
external hard disk.
1. Use shortcut key Window + E to launch windows explorer. Window
+ E means to press and hold down first Window key (do not
release), followed by letter E key then release both keys.

Note: Window key is a key in your keyboard with this logo

2. Point your mouse and double click to the drive (drive C, D, E for
example) where you store your file.

3. Once you found your file, double click the mouse to open it.

Method 2. Using the Search Box.

(This method is applicable also in storage devices mentioned in Method 1.)

Your computer has a “Search” feature where you can type at least part of the
filename of your file, then the computer will find it for you.

1. Use shortcut key Window + E to launch windows explorer.

2. Open the drive letter

3. On the upper right corner of the window, you will find the search box

4. Enter the filename you want to search in the search box and press enter.

5. A list of files will be displayed as a result of a search. Select your file and
double click to open it.

C. Application
The teacher asks the students to demonstrate an understanding of accessing

information stored in a computer through actual operation.

IV. Evaluation
Write True if the statement is correct, write False if the statement is wrong.
1. Use shortcut key Window + E to launch windows explorer.

3. Point your mouse and single click to the drive where you store
your file.
4. Use search box to find your files.
V. Assignment
Search the different kinds of monitors.
