I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of how gases behave based on the motion
A. Content Standards and relative distances between gas.
particles
B. Performance Standards
The learners should be able to
1. investigate the relationship between:
C. Learning Competencies/ 1.1 volume and pressure at constant temperature of a gas;
Objectives 1.2 volume and temperature at constant pressure of a gas;
(Write the LC code) 1.3 explains these relationships using the kinetic molecular theory;
S10MTIVa-b-21
At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
1.Determine the relationship between volume and temperature at constant pressure and
amount of gas
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
2. Perform Charles’ Law experiment
3 Cite some real-life situations that can be explained by Charles’ Law

IV. PROCEDURES
ELICIT

Teacher calls at least 2 students to share their research on current discovery using Boyle’s
law.
A. Reviewing previous lesson
or presenting the new Teacher reviews the lesson by asking the following.
lesson What happens to pressure if volume increases?
What are the units of temperature?
Which is more? 1K 0r 1 0C?
Teacher emphasizes that unts in temperature must be in Kelvin when dealing with gas
laws.

B. Establishing a purpose for ENGAGE

What did you observe in the experiment?

Based on your observation, how does temperature and volume affect the shape of the
balloon?

EXPLORE
Teacher asks a volunteer to do the Charles’ law experiment.

Materials:
Erlenmeyer flask
D. Discussing new concepts Party balloon
and practicing new skills #1 Water
Burner /tripod,
alcohol lamp, wire gauze, match
Safety glove

Procedure:
1.Add about 75 mL of water to an Erlenmeyer flask.
2.Put the open end of a balloon over the opening of the flask.
3.Place the flask on a hot plate or burner.
4.Heat the water to its boiling point.

Teacher instructs the students to observe what happens to the balloon. Make sure to turn
off the fire after reaching the desired size of the balloon so the balloon will not burst.

=======================
After sharing their observations, show an animated gif

E. Discussing new concepts

and practicing new skills #2
Teacher instructs the students to study the GIF and write three (facts) that can be derived
from what is shown.

EXPLAIN

F. Developing mastery (leads Students state Charles’ law based from the facts they have gathered.
to Formative Assessment 3) Teacher discusses Charles’ law concept by using simulation

G. Finding practical ELABORATE

applications of concepts
and skills in daily living Teacher shows a picture of application of Charles’ law and call a
student to explain using the concept learned.
