Radar Polarmetry, airborne/spaceborne SAR image processing for target detection
(civilian and military), physics of radar scattering, remote sensing of snow, glacier,
forest disturbance/biomass, and natural/manmade disasters monitoring

• Grades will be assigned to the following scale:
• AA >=80 %
• AB 70 - 79 %
• BB 60 - 69 %

• CD 35 - 39%
• DD 30 - 34%
• These are guaranteed maximum scales and may be revised downward at the instructor's discretion.

Introduction to cryosphere and remote sensing (RS).
RS applications in: Snow, ice and glaciers, snow cover mapping,
Estimation of snowpack characteristics, Polar cryosphere, Ice sheet
topography, Iceberg detection, monitoring iceberg drift, measurement
of iceberg thickness, Ice sheet surface temperature, Glacier
geomorphology, glacier facies mapping, glacier inventory, mass balance
studies, glacier retreat and glacier movement, Avalanche forecasting,
mapping potential avalanche prone zones, warning and mitigation,
Case studies.
