INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION

• Lower indus basin

• This area of the southern lower Indus basin starts from
• the south of Jacobabad high,
• west of the Indian shield
• and east of the Bela-Waziristan Ophiolites zone. Offshore to
the south, this area is bounded by the Owen Murray ridges in
the west

REGIONAL
GEOLOGY
• GEOLOGICAL
FRAMEWORK
• The Lower Indus Platform Basin
is bounded to the north by the
Central indus Basin, to the
northwest by the sulaiman Fold
Belt Basin and the kirthar Fold
Belt Basin in the west.
Precambrian basement is
exposed in the southeastern
corner of the basin

Main aim of this study is to interpret the
structure of the study area by using seismic
stratigraphy and seismic structural analysis. The
data used will be 2D Seismic data and well logs
of Sawan-01To find out the Reservoir

SEISMIC DATA INTERPRETATION

• The analysis of seismic data includes stratigraphic and structural analysis.

• It is the conversion of seismic reflection data into a useful structural

picture to reveal the structure and stratigraphy of the subsurface.

• Seismic interpretation includes the conversion of velocity and time into the
depth of subsurface reflecting interfaces to convert seismic data into a useful
image.

• For the present research work PETREL and interactive petrophysics (IP)
software have been used to interpret seismic data and petrophysical analysis.
The data of well SAWAN-01 has been incorporated for the study .
SEISMIC INTERPRETATION

•In seismic interpretation two steps involved:

a) Horizon marking

b) Fault marking

INTERPRETATION STEPS
 The first and foremost approach is to mark the reflectors on the seismic section.

Reflectors are marked based on best coherency and continuity of the

amplitude of the waves and this happens when the acoustic impedance
changes in the subsurface which is the product of density and velocity.
After marking all the reflectors on the seismic section, there is a search of the
“Control Depth Point” in the subsurface of the given area i.e. regional
unconformity, disconformity, thrust faults, normal faults, etc.
Geology of the given area plays a vital role to get precise and accurate results.
Well log data is very important to get more information.
Structural and Stratigraphic analysis are the two main approaches to interpret
a line.
CONCLUSION
• Overall conclusion of Sawan-01 especially Zone C and D is
that the porosity value is high, density is low, API values are
also low and volume of shale is also less than 29%.
• Water saturation in zone C is also low in percentage, but the
DT values (transit time) in this zone are high. So, Zone C has
all the characteristics of reservoir in Sawan-01.
• All the logs data proved it that this well has productive zones
which produce the hydrocarbons, especially Gas
