Children will first sort their 3D shapes into groups and then use them to make patterns.

Beginning of Activity-
Opening statement
Today we have some 3D shapes. Who knows what these different shapes we have here.
We have pyramids, cubes, spheres, rectangular prisms, cones and cylinders. Now that we
have named our 3D shapes I want everyone to try and make a pattern using their shapes
from their baskets
Middle of Activity
Early: Students will explore 3D shapes.
Middle: Students will sort 3D shapes and will extend a simple AB pattern. Teachers will
scaffold by encouraging them to create their own AB pattern.
Later: Students will sort 3D shapes and make a simple AB pattern. Teachers will scaffold
by encouraging them to make a complex pattern.
End of Activity-
Children will be able to share their patterns with their friends at the table
