Definition of Health

The WHO constitution states:

"Health is a state of
complete physical, mental and
social well-being and not
merely the absence of disease
or infirmity."
Workplace

A workplace or place of
employment is a location
where people perform tasks,
jobs and projects for their
employer.
Health and Workplace

A healthy workplace is one where people

collaborate to continually improve the health,
safety and wellbeing of all and by doing this,
sustain the productivity of the community

(World Health Organization, 2009).

When you are busy at work,
you may sometimes find it
difficult to prioritize your
health. However, spending long
periods at your desk or eating
unhealthy snacks can impact
not only your health but also
your performance at work. By
understanding your needs and
making healthier choices, you
can learn how to stay
energized and productive
throughout the day.
Safety
Staying healthy and safe
at work is important. No
matter what you job , it is
important to reduce your
risks of injury and illness
at work.
How to become
healthy at SAFE
workplace?
Drink more water

Staying hydrated can keep you alert and

energized throughout your workday.
Many people aim to drink eight to 10
glasses of water per day, and the
amount each person needs can vary
based on the level of physical activity
and the climate.
Bring a packed lunch

You can make healthier food choices

by planning and preparing lunches to
bring to school. Some of the food
types to incorporate into your meal
include lean proteins, healthy fats,
salads, vegetables and fruits. Don’t
skip meals!
Utilize good posture

Sitting at your desk for long periods can

put pressure on your neck, shoulders and
spine. Maintaining good posture and
stretching throughout the day can help
offset this tension.
Take breaks regularly
Remaining productive during the
day does not necessarily mean
you cannot leave your desk.
Taking regular breaks can help
you refocus and re-energize
your mind, allowing you to
return to your workspace
ready to work and study.
Keep your workspace clean
A clean workspace can help you keep a
clear mind, as you avoid getting
distracted by a multitude of papers and
other items cluttering your space. Having
a set place for all your items can also
help you stay organized and avoid
wasting time looking for things. Good
organizational habits can help reduce
stress and keep you calm at work.
Incorporate exercise into
your day
Finding ways to exercise
throughout your day can help
boost your energy and benefit
your physical health. Exercising
can be as simple as taking a
walk during your break.
Learn stress management techniques
You can incorporate various management
techniques to help handle your stress, boost your
productivity and avoid feeling burnt out.

Listening to your favorite music or podcasts.

Using time management apps to track and
prioritize your tasks at work or set deadlines
for yourself.
Socializing with your classmates during free
time.
Get sufficient sleep

Getting enough sleep the night before work

can help prepare you for the day and maintain
your focus. Many people try to get at least
eight hours. When you get sufficient and high-
quality sleep, you may feel less sluggish in the
morning and ready to take on the day's
responsibilities. It can also help you avoid
feeling tired during the workday.
Reduce screen time.
Any screen time not associated
with homework should be limited
to two hours a day or less and
includes phones, televisions,
tablets, video games and
computers. The light emitted
from screens can reduce
melatonin levels, making it more
difficult to fall asleep.
Take vitamins

If you feel like you are not

getting the nutrition you need
from your diet, do not
hesitate to supplement it with
some multi-vitamins to stay
healthy and illness free.
Wash You Hands often

Handwashing with soap removes

germs from hands. This helps prevent
infections because: People frequently
touch their eyes, nose, and mouth
without even realizing it. Germs can
get into the body through the eyes,
nose and mouth and make us sick.
Make Time for Socializing
and Friendships
Friendship is an important part of
mental health. Through social
interactions, you will learn how to
resolve conflicts and communicate
effectively. This will help prevent
social anxiety and stress.
Be aware of your
surroundings
This step requires knowing the
particular hazards of your job or
workplace. Once you have learned
these risks, you are able to keep
clear of potential hazardous areas
and situation.
USe tools and machines
properly
Take proper precautions when using
tools, and never take shortcuts.
Taking shortcuts is one of the leading
cause of workplace injury.
Keep emergency exits
easily accessible
In case of emergency, you will need
quick and easy access to the exits. It
is also recommended to keep clear
access to equipment shutoffs in case
you need to quickly stop them from
functioning.
BOARDING HOUSE Safety Measures
1. Bring Plenty of Clothing, Supplies and Reminders of Home

personal items. The more pieces of home you bring, the more settled
you'll immediately feel in your new residence.

2. Maintain Good Hygiene

parents take care of certain cleaning habits at home, but boarding
house comes with new levels of independence and self-reliance. It's
time for you to shine!
3. Connect With Your Roommates

Living together bonds people in ways that few other things can. Make an
effort to bond with your roommate.

4. Use Your Time Wisely

The school will offer plenty of extracurricular opportunities to jump in

to. Decide which ones you can afford to spend time on, and make wise
decisions about balancing your homework, social and personal time.
5. Listen to Dorm Parents and Teachers

Dorm Parents and teachers have years of boarding school experience to

offer — embrace their wisdom and consider them the caring,
knowledgeable figures that they have.
